Who brings a freaking gun to a deposition? Did he plan it or did he get pissed and suddenly remember he has a gun with him?

The investigation may answer that but I'd not be surprised if he planned it.

It was certainly planned. Especially if the posts I saw on Nextdoor saying that the shooter, Joe Houston II, had stage 4 brain cancer are true.

Or maybe he made up the story about "cleaning the gun" as an explanation as to why it was accessible. Sounds much better than "I had left it on the coffee table loaded."

3-Year-Old Fatally Shot Self After Finding Gun Allegedly Left Under Couch – Man Charged with Manslaughter
Elijah Abreu Borgen’s mother called 911, telling dispatch that her 3-year-old had accidentally shot himself in the chest March 28

Investigators found a 3-year-old fatally wounded and gunshot residue on his hands.

Now, a Pennsylvania man who allegedly left unattended a 2- and 3-year-old on a couch with a loaded gun underneath it is charged with felony involuntary manslaughter of a child, per a press release by the Allentown Police Department.

In addition to the felony charge, José Hilario Abreu, 28, is facing two counts of endangering the welfare of children and breaching a duty of care creating a substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury to a child aged 6 and younger – all second-degree felonies.

Hilario allegedly told police that he placed his gun “under the sofa where the two children were sitting and left the room” on March 28, per the police press release.

The gun, police claim, was “fully loaded with a live cartridge in the chamber.”

Later that morning, Hilario heard “a loud bang,” from the other room and found Elijah Abreu Borgen, with a gunshot to the torso. The discharged gun lay on a pillow beside the two children, per police.

The child’s mother called 911 just before noon, saying her son had “grabbed a gun and shot himself in the chest,” per police.

Toddler dies after shooting himself in Brunswick Hills

A 3-year-old died after shooting himself on Wednesday evening in Brunswick Hills.

Brunswick Hills Police Chief Tim Sopkovich said the shooting occurred about 5:30 p.m. on Marks Road in the township.

The toddler obtained his father’s gun and discharged it, Sopkovich said. The bullet struck him in the chest.

The child was transported by helicopter to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland and later died as a result of his injuries, Sopkovich said. The shooting appears to be accidental.

There have been no charges or arrests, and the case is still under investigation, he said. An autopsy will be performed, and information from the investigation will later be sent to the Medina County Prosecutor.

The child’s name has not been released because the entire family has not been notified of the incident yet, Sopkovich said.

The Brunswick Division of Fire, Brunswick Hills Fire Department and Metro LifeFlight were the other agencies involved, he said.

Sopkovich encouraged gun owners to practice firearm safety by securing their weapons, keeping them out of reach of children, unloading them and getting a safe to put the firearms in.

“This was a tragic event,” he said. “Our community suffered a big loss, and it is sad.”

The gunfire hit seven women and two men who were all taken to local hospitals by Dallas Fire Rescue and in private vehicles, according to the report.

Coriesha Bradford, 21, died at the hospital. The other eight adults suffered non-life threatening injuries.
