Yeah well, I have the answer:
Harken harkly, my peeps, because this is going to work.
WHEN YOU USE THE HIGHLIGHT BUTTON (the one that, for whatever reason, reminds me of a cheerleader's megaphone),
ALSO USE THE TEXT COLOR BUTTON AND MAKE THE TEXT BLACK.
So the phrase "a recipe waiting to happen" will look like this:
A recipe waiting to happen.
And it will look like that in every board style, because you are overriding the default text color.
Here is what the code looks like:

It takes about 3 seconds to change the text color, you already have it selected. This is the best solution.
That's my rulin' and I'm stickin' with it.
Edit: OMG, I looked at it in Hexagon and it's beautiful. Of course, you can use other combinations that offer good contrast. Just remember, when you use highlight (or the Edit button), change the text color. Deal?
