He wasn't really a king like a European king, he was a tribal chief, and he assembled a coalition of tribes to fight the New England colonists and their native allies.

The town I grew up in in Massachusetts was a tribal forces encampment during King Philip's War. We learned about it in grade school.
A few students in our schools were Wampanoags.

King Philip's War 1675-1678
Where I grew up in Plymouth County, Massachusetts-
The town did not exist at the time of King Philip's War. That area was not incorporated until 1712 as part of Abington. In 1874-75 East Abington and South Abington, the more economically successful parts of Abington (shoe manufacture mostly), separated from Abington and became Rockland and Whitman.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockland, ... ts#HistoryDuring King Philip's War, the town was the site of an encampment during his raids on the town of Scituate.[4]

Did Andy say the town existed? He's not much of a Wiki guy.
