Trump is the damn loser. My dad spent 32 years of his life in the military, as a top turret gunner & flight engineer B 17’s in WW2 in the 306th Bombardment Group. He was also deployed to Korea and Vietnam. I was old enough to be terrified of losing him in Vietnam for every long minute of the year he spent there.

He came home on Christmas Eve and it snowed that night. I climbed out my bedroom window and sat against the house watching the giant snowflakes drifting down like feathers past the street lamps and cried, so relieved that he’d come home alive. That was in 1969 and I’ve never seen it snow on Christmas Eve again. He deserved his resting place at Arlington National and Donald Trump and his nothing but a photo op can kiss my ass.

There's supposed to be something in the failing NYT from the family of another soldier whose grave is shown in the photo. It sounded like they are unhappy.

Ah. Thanks. That makes sense in Trump World. To the rest of us, he was politicizing which is expressly forbidden. There had to be something in it for him, and there it is. Plus his entourage got him press time. For a brief moment he got heads to turn his way again.

Personal story - in '22, we buried my Aunt Dulcy at Arlington, right next to my Uncle George. We met with the staff, and they were very professional, but firm on the subject. And so I never took my camera out of the car, or my phone out of my pocket (except to turn it off). When you're in hallowed ground, it's a good idea to follow their rules.

'Course, the quadfectee breaks the rules. That's who he is, that's what he does.
