I can't imagine what kind of swing he has with that oversized body of his. How far can he drive a ball with a 3 wood or 2 iron?

Even if they were standing at the grave of a family member, big grins and hand gestures are wrong. There was zero honor and solemnity present in that group. Trump should have stood with his hand over his heart and a serious face. This isn't Disneyland. Total fuckwits.

University of Texas Longhorns gesture.
Lots of other uses for it.

For the record, I've never heard that interpretation of a thumbs up either. In this side of the world people would be more likely to use a middle finger with the instruction to "take a spin on this."

Hollowed? :homophone: Oh, wait, they don't sound the same...
Well, if you want to get technical, a cemetery is "hollowed ground" in a creepy sort of way.....

Trump is the damn loser. My dad spent 32 years of his life in the military, as a top turret gunner & flight engineer B 17’s in WW2 in the 306th Bombardment Group. He was also deployed to Korea and Vietnam. I was old enough to be terrified of losing him in Vietnam for every long minute of the year he spent there.

He came home on Christmas Eve and it snowed that night. I climbed out my bedroom window and sat against the house watching the giant snowflakes drifting down like feathers past the street lamps and cried, so relieved that he’d come home alive. That was in 1969 and I’ve never seen it snow on Christmas Eve again. He deserved his resting place at Arlington National and Donald Trump and his nothing but a photo op can kiss my ass.

I know people grieve in different ways, but what I don't get is the smirking and hand gestures of the family members like it was a backyard party.

There's supposed to be something in the failing NYT from the family of another soldier whose grave is shown in the photo. It sounded like they are unhappy.

Donald Trump just posted a shocking and vastly inappropriate video of his stunt at the Arlington National Cemetery. Apparently, he’s PROUD of himself…

Top story on AP news and Goog news are both about how fuckhead and his entourage were warned about not taking photos or video. He thought he'd try a stunt to get some veterans back in his corner, but it backfired badly. That's not gonna change anybody's mind. The Trumpers will think he's a great hero and patriot, but the rest of the world is thinking, "Well, Corey was hired to be an asshole. If he ever stops being an asshole, he'll probably be fired." Okay. I'm satisfied the family used the gesture to honor their fallen daughter. Got it. I still don't like his shit eating grin. It's so saccharine and insincere I want to puke. And nothing explains why this soldier was selected, or even why fuckwit was there in the first place (except electioneering).

I'm sorry, but the family has no business telling Trump and his minions to go ahead and break the law. They were warned not to do it; they did it anyway; and they earned the consequences.

I understand that he was one of the 13 that lost their lives in Afghanistan during the last days of the retreat. All Joe's fault. They likely had to harrass thirteen families until they found one willing to play along.

I think this family spoke at the RNC. They're already political props.

Ah. Thanks. That makes sense in Trump World. To the rest of us, he was politicizing which is expressly forbidden. There had to be something in it for him, and there it is. Plus his entourage got him press time. For a brief moment he got heads to turn his way again.

Off Topic
Personal story - in '22, we buried my Aunt Dulcy at Arlington, right next to my Uncle George. We met with the staff, and they were very professional, but firm on the subject. And so I never took my camera out of the car, or my phone out of my pocket (except to turn it off). When you're in hallowed ground, it's a good idea to follow their rules.

'Course, the quadfectee breaks the rules. That's who he is, that's what he does.
