Incomes are pretty low in Florida. Ask any public schoolteacher. I believe Florida is in the bottom two or three of the country.
Publix is gonna Publix. I shop mainly at Publix. I like it and the store is like 1/2 mile from my house. But the same box of cereal I get at Publix (family size Cinnamon Life) costs about twice as much as it does at the Target which is about 5 miles from me. We're fortunate to not be very price sensitive when we shop, but lots (most) people are. Plus here in Alabama, groceries are taxed, unlike most other states.

I was perplexed the first time I read your post, but I happened to read it again later and realized you were merely channeling the MAGA cult.

Who was this beautiful recipient not loaded with bullet holes?

Remember the maimed veteran he didn’t want at an event because a maimed veteran was poor optics in his fried brain? I wish I could remember the name because he sounded remarkable.

I think it was Miriam Adleson(sp?) And I think he was referring to her beautiful money.

Publix is gonna Publix. I shop mainly at Publix. I like it and the store is like 1/2 mile from my house. We're fortunate to not be very price sensitive when we shop, but lots (most) people are. Plus here in Alabama, groceries are taxed, unlike most other states.
Publix lives and dies on BOGOs, customer service, and the deli counter. A Publix that can't deliver on all 3 of those deserves to be whistled past like a graveyard.

I will die on that hill myself, having lived (in total) within 5 miles of 22 different Publixes (near as I can count from memory) over the course of almost 45 total years of having my legal or full-time physical residences at 9 different townhouse, condo, or apartment locations in Broward or Alachua counties. I finished my last training class in D.C. *today*, and by Sunday night, I will be back at my little suburban Broward condo, within a mile and a half walk of 2 Publixes. I bounce between both of those and a 3rd further down the road in the opposite direction from the other two but which is the largest of the 3, based on my mood.

I miss Publix.

I don’t think there was a specific name. IIRC, Gen. Kelly confirmed an Atlantic story saying that Trump refused have amputees at his events because he didn’t want to be seen with them. It went along with the “I don’t get it? What was in it for them?” when Trump was talking about solders killed in action.

I’m the worst veteran ever. For me it was a job. While I’m proud of my service, I’m not much of a flag-waver. I get really uncomfortable when people thank me for my service. I’m just not a God-and-country kind of girl, particularly after having witnessed first-hand how the military treats its own people.

But for the life of me, I cannot understand why *any* veteran would vote for Trump when he clearly holds *all* veterans in such low regard.

For a lot of Trump followers, it's all about the hate. Hate the blacks, hate the Muslims, hate uppity women, hate gays, hate trans, hate liberals, hate welfare queens, hate immigrants, hate U.S. residents who don't speak English, hate people using food stamps, etc. It's all about someone other than their own demographic - typically white heterosexuals - getting anything from the government or getting treated with respect.

But, of course, every Trump follower deserves anything they get from the government - Social Security, military pension, Medicare, unemployment, their food stamps, etc. They are entitled.

I don’t think there was a specific name.
Luis Avila is the one I was thinking of.
At his welcome ceremony at Joint Base Myer–Henderson Hall, across the Potomac River from the capital, Milley gained an early, and disturbing, insight into Trump’s attitude toward soldiers. Milley had chosen a severely wounded Army captain, Luis Avila, to sing “God Bless America.” Avila, who had completed five combat tours, had lost a leg in an IED attack in Afghanistan and had suffered two heart attacks, two strokes, and brain damage as a result of his injuries. To Milley, and to four-star generals across the Army, Avila and his wife, Claudia, represented the heroism, sacrifice, and dignity of wounded soldiers.

You're right. Those with that mindset seem to think that respect, equality, justice, fairness are all zero-sum games. If you give someone else a little more of any of those things, it means you have to take some away from them.

Oh he tried! April 2020 he was meeting with the Heads of the Gasoline companies to beg them to raise the Gasoline price at the pump. After Meeting with Russia and OPEC in march to heroically beg them to cut production to raise Oil prices!

Huh? What? I'm not supposed to mention that? And it shows he was actually doing the opposite of keeping prices down? And Dancing on the puppet strings of Oil Companies and Oil countries?

I have been hoping that he will drop dead from a heart attack. Just freaking DIE, PLEASE!!!!!

I don't feel bad at all for wishing him dead. Not at all.
personally, I want him to stroke out, not dead.

I want him to be fully awake and aware of what's going on around him, but unable to speak coherently.

I want him shambling around Mar-a-Lardo like Frankenstein's monster, howling in inchoate rage.

But that's just me.
So you don't want him to change in any way?

Donald Trump's 'Asinine Comments' Criticized by Veterans of Foreign Wars

https://www.newsweek.com/trump-medal-ho ... rs-1940641
Veterans of Foreign Wars commander Al Lipphardt has slammed Donald Trump for "asinine" comments he made about the Medal of Honor award.

At a campaign event in New Jersey on Thursday, Trump sparked fury after he said the Presidential Medal of Freedom is a "better" award than the Defense Department's Medal of Honor, which is the United States Armed Forces' highest military decoration and is awarded to recognize American soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen, guardians, and coast guardsmen who have distinguished themselves "through conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of life above and beyond the call of duty."

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is awarded to civilians "who have made exceptional contributions to the security or national interests of America, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors."

"It's the equivalent of the congressional Medal of Honor," Trump said of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. "But the civilian version, it's actually much better because everyone that gets the Congressional Medal of Honor, they're soldiers."

"They're either in very bad shape because they've been hit so many times by bullets or they're dead," he said. "[Adelson] gets it, and she's a healthy, beautiful woman, and they're rated equal, but she got the Presidential Medal of Freedom."

Trump was referring to Miriam Adelson, a Republican donor who received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from him in 2018 for opening two research centers aimed at stemming substance abuse and the work of the Adelson Medical Research Foundation, established to combat life-threatening illnesses.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars group blasted Trump for his comments, calling them "asinine."

Trump is currently speaking at a rally in Pennsylvania and I'm watching a few folks tweeting about it.

A couple of comments -

Trump loves to complain about how he was running against Biden and all of a sudden he's now running against Harris, and how he spent so much money running against Biden. But that's the problem when you're campaign is based on denigrating your opponent. If Trump had been running on his fantastic record and everything he had accomplished and how much more he will do for the country in the next four years, it wouldn't have mattered who his opponent was. But that's not Trump.

From today's rally: "A tariff is a tax on a foreign country. A lot of people like to say it’s a tax on us. No… It’s is a tax that doesn’t affect our country." I really don't think he gets it.
