Biden performs like shit when he is nervous, but he seems to have found his groove.

Well.

Better at least.

Btw. Fox is all over Biden’s mental acuity and pauses and weak voice.

BBC wants to know how to fact check something that doesn’t make sense.

Good question.

We watched a few minutes of the talking after the debate on CNN and they were absolutely dragging Biden while barely mentioning trump. 2 things sort of struck me though. Axelrod was saying how old and decrepit Biden sounded, while the entire time he was Uhhhhing and stumbling over words himself. And the second was the "who wants to tell him (Biden) that he needs to step down and let someone else have the nomination?" comments.

And what is it about the men who support trump all talking really fast and loud every time they open their mouths. They can say "pass the toast" and the volume and inflection is exactly that same as it is when they say "release the hounds." Every fucking thing is a total crisis to them.

I think people have been tuned out too long. They needed to see the crazy to remember why they fired him in 2020. I notice how many of the "shocking" clips that have been making the rounds in the mainstream press recently were really things he's been saying for at least 1 or 2 years.

'Babbling' and 'hoarse': Biden's debate performance sends Democrats into a panic
The president often had a weak, raspy voice during his first debate against Trump, in what Democrats had hoped would be a turning point in the race.

Same shit that they said about Obama back in 2012 after the first debate. And everyone here was in Depression mode that Obama was gonna lose, because ALL the pundits were saying he did terrible. Even Rachel maddow, which showed to me that she would toe the line when required.

Oh was there a debate tonight? Asks most of the nation who were watching reality TV, playing video games, or getting laid. Joy Reid said it's "Statler and Waldorf and no other Muppets are coming".

 Biden's at a Waffle House at 12:30am. Dang! He should have gone before the debate!

Can't think of a single Democrat who will change to Trump over a single debate after living through his four years of hell. Obama's first debate in 2012 freaked people out too also. Election is a long way away.

Will be interesting to hear the next Hacks on Tap podcast:

David Axelrod @davidaxelrod
I worked on dozens of presidential debates with my old partner @DavidPlouffe during the @barackobama years, so it was great fun to wargame out Thursday's debate with him and the always wily, wise--and witty--@murphymike!

⏰ LFG: Time for the Emergency Hacks! GOP voter in Maricopa County, AZ said: "Trump: HELL NO, Biden: OH, NO!" Trump's lying nastiness reminded us why he was fired. Obama's first 2012 debate gave Dems similar worries. Hackaroos, how do we fix this? Please join in @JamesCarville.

Seriously, I think Biden needs to own this, tell folks he didn't do the job we know he can do and is sorry, and let the lies of Trump sink in. MAGA's going to gloat. After losing 5 elections in a row, they crave any good news. Hell, nothing was worse than election night 2016. This too shall pass.

RFK debated himself tonight. Sounds productive.

And if you think things were bad -- Alex Wagner was just in the Spin Room with Matt Gaetz, Stephen Miller, and Little Marco. That is some TRUE PAIN.

According to Fox Polls, Biden is taking Support from RFK and has taken the lead. So, they need to boost RFK as much as possible to take that support back.

The old joke. Never been more true.
David Sedaris? I think wrote: To put them in perspective, I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. “Can I interest you in the chicken?” she asks. “Or would you prefer the platter of shit with bits of broken glass in it?”

To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked.

Sadly, given that appearances matter more than content to a depressingly large number of people and how the media will undoubtedly react, this does not bode well. :(

I really hope that the focus groups mentioned are indicative of actual voting intentions and I’m wrong.
