I wonder if he'll report before July 1 so he can be sure to vote in Nov. Or will he wait till the last minute hoping for some hail Mary thing to happen. Maybe Navarro will call him (collect) and give him some pointers. Can someone call into a radio show/podcast from prison? Will some flunky figure out a way to let Bannon do his show from prison? Do we know what state he'll be in prison? So many questions!

Most places require a phone list of approved numbers and those are the only numbers the inmate is able to call. Attorneys are on a separate list, with fewer restrictions.
Technically they don't allow 3-way calling, but it happens. He just needs like a cell number he can call and the person on the other end puts it on speakerphone.

It is a Total and Complete American Tragedy that the Crooked Joe Biden Department of Injustice is so desperate to jail Steve Bannon, and every other Republican, for that matter, for not SUBMITTING to the Unselect Committee of Political Thugs, made up of all Democrats, and two CRAZED FORMER REPUBLICAN LUNATICS, Cryin’ Adam Kinzinger, and Liz “Out of Her Mind” Cheney. It has been irrefutably proven that it was the Unselects who committed actual crimes when they deleted and destroyed all material evidence, in a pathetic attempt to protect Crazy Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats from the TRUTH — THAT I DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG. The unAmerican Weaponization of our Law Enforcement has reached levels of Illegality never thought possible before. Chris “Law Dork” Geidner
@chrisgeidner

JUST IN: Steve Bannon files an emergency request at the D.C. Circuit, asking them to prevent him from having to report to prison on July 1 for his contempt of Congress conviction.

https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap ... 1977.0.pdf

Bannon asks the appeals court for a ruling in a week, b/c, his lawyers say, he plans to go to SCOTUS after this if necessary.

Chief Justice Roberts rejected Peter Navarro's similar request back in March without even referring it to the full court.

So, my thinking is that this is more for show than anything else. https://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/2 ... 3_he4l.pdf

Steve Bannon is set to begin his sentence at Danbury minimum-security prison on July 1 after he was found in contempt of Congress for ignoring a subpoena during the Jan. 6 investigation. Critics of Bannon's, former FBI agent Peter Strzok and legal analyst Allison Gill, couldn't help but mock him.

Speaking on their "Cleanup on Aisle 45" podcast, Strzok began sifting through the items that Bannon can purchase at the prison commissary.

"This is my favorite part on 'Cleanup on Aisle 45,'" Strzok confessed. "When we get to go to a new federal correctional institution that one of the people surrounding [Donald] Trump has been incarcerated at and do a select-reading of the products available. In this case, Danbury FCI, which is where Steve Bannon is headed."

Sloppy Steve may have a complication during his sentence.
If he has to appear in court for his other charges during that time, the feds and NYS have to coordinate his transport. That means he could spend some time in Rikers in segregation with other transit inmates. If they don't have a lot of space, he will get to sleep on the floor in one of these plastic boat thingys. It's not a fun process. For security reasons, they're not gonna tell him when he's getting shipped, they could just come in the middle of the night, hand him a trash bag and tell him he's got 10 minutes to pack up his stuff. Getting on and off the bus, he will probably be shackled. When he gets back, he could return to a new bunk location with all new neighbors.

He might just become a fugitive instead. Nobody's trying to arrest Ammon Eggs in Southern Utah. Get some followers and make sure they have guns. That's more exciting and fun than jail. :confuzzled:

I admire whimsically their chutzpah in declaring confidently that nobody considers Bannon a threat to the community.

As round and round we run;
And the truth shall ever come uppermost,
And justice shall be done.

Uhhh - yes - please define the difference between lawful and unlawful congressional subpoenas. Hunter Biden might be interested in knowing those details ;) You may also too educate the DOJ where they erred in their interpretation and prohibited some employees for showing up. I am sure the Congressional Research Service will give you all the details and the missing link you are missing :twisted:

A reply to the Xit shows a different judge is holding a conference in the case, but Merchan is still assigned for the trial.

If there's a different judge for a conference but the assigned judge is still assigned to the trial, the assigned judge probably is just temporarily out.

Like sick, or on vacation, or other similar life stuff.

My WAG is the pre-trial conference has to happen in X period before the trial. If the assigned judge isn't inclined to move the trial, and is unavailable for when the pre-trial conference must be held, a substitute judge is brought in. (Judges covering for judges is uncommon, but happens.)
