Ouch! My across the street neighbor had both knees done last year. Took him a while to recover. His wife has her own issues. So their oldest daughter moved in to help out. It became a community project to get the house ADA compliant so he could scoot around in a wheelchair.

No wheelchair. Crutches. Which I already have. Remember, BTDT. Had my left knee done in 2016, this completes my cyborg circuit (both knees and both shoulders).

Will be No Fun on a scale of No Fun At All, but I got this.

Gotta get up to see my pa first, too also.

Sad and happy here...

Back in October I reported that my father (93, dementia) had attacked me while I was driving him around. He thought I was kidnapping him. It was really scary for me because he tried to get out of a moving car.

We upped our in-home care and started looking for a memory care facility. Although he hasn't had another episode like that, we knew he we couldn't take care of him long-term. (He is also prone to wandering and I have spent hours driving around in the past year looking for him.)

It took us a while, but we found a great facility that is close, has a good resident/staff ratio, and has an excellent reputation. It also has assisted living in the same building so my mom can move in and see him when she chooses.

Today we moved him in. We still have a little work to do on personalizing his room, but I just feel like a great weight has been lifted. I am in a dementia support group, so I realize how lucky I am that my parents have long-term care insurance and enough savings that this is possible. It's horrible how many people are caring for loved ones - some of them a LOT younger than my parents - and have no way to get the help they need.

I'm happy you were able to find a good place for him. It's always so hard to do that, but a lot of the time it's the best thing for everyone.

I'm glad that weight was lifted from you too M. That is some hard stuff to deal with. I'm happy he has the resources to afford it so you don't have to.

Things I'm too old for:

Having an NDP child, gah it's the worst

Buying a bloody house that turns out to have a secret lien on it and a whole bunch of shady legal happy crap going on around it.

Kid's been a shitgibbon for decades, refuses treatment.

72 year old landlord is getting out of the landlord business and we got first dibs on the house. Closing is next Wednesday, or was until the lawyers found a lien against the property and the VA financer is screamingly angry.

My TSH was 130.8 (normal is .27 - 4.2) and my T4 Free was .38 (normal is .93 - 1.7) on my thyroid blood work yesterday. The doctor called me before I even got home.

My blood pressure was 210/140 but that's because of the thyroid so we aren't doing anything about it until the Hashimoto's and Addison's get under control. Fun times!

Well, today I got the call I've been expecting for a while.

My parents are thinking about moving to a one-story condo and selling my childhood home. Decision may need to happen this week (the condo is in the same complex as their really close friends, and it's a nice size (1800 sq.ft. 1st flr and same size basement, with lots of storage), so it's the perfect confluence).
