Neil Young covered by the "greatest guitarist you never heard of" (well of course ALL Fogbowsers have heard of Roy Buchanan, its the callow yoots that ain't got no respeck for their elders)

Original Neil: Original Neil Young off the album "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere"

Cover: Roy Buchanan on guitar-o-phone, Billy Price on Vocal-chords ("From Live At Town Hall, New York ,1974")

I probably should have contrasted Roy's studio version (from the album "You're Not Alone") if I'm pointing at Neil's studio version, but I just like the Billy Price vocals better than the Gary St. Clair vocals.

Please don't ask me how I've been getting off.

I usually eschew "greatest hits" albums, some are great, but most are just rehashes of not actual hits. But this one caught my eye the other day, not least because it was half price in the big-box store remainders bin.

The Very Best Of Manfred Mann's Earth Band

I glad it did, because they had this great cover of a classic by the Australian Band The Divinyls.

Hold on buster, you don't get the right to hijack MY generation's music... :fingerwag:

Stick to Peter, Paul, and Mary where you belong...

However, I wish Tori Amos would look at me the same way she looks at that mic...

Damn, if only Courtney Love hadn't poisoned Tori's relationship with Trent Razor...what kind of music would those kids make toady...

I was too old when the H.O.R.D.E. tour was buzzing around. I still like DMB, Blue Traveler and Spin Doctors.

Just giving you at little flak good sir...

We in Gen X will embrace those adults who were a little older than us [as I understand you served in the Gulf War] who get our angst at what we saw as a country that told us "screw you we got ours"....

Best tour I ever saw to this day was the Dissonance NIN/Bowie tour...there is none higher...

Still I want Tori to make love to me the was she was to that microphone... :bag:

My mom was sad at my music choices.

I passed on my music to my son, but it only partly stuck.

Maybe it's just me, but the over production of music being churned out now is....too sterile? Rick Beato has described what I'm thinking in better musical terms than I could ever hope to do. He's something like a year younger than I am, and his tastes are a bit different, but he hears the (and this sounds corny) the lack of soul in music made now.

I'll give you that, it was back In the late 2000's when I realized I had gotten "old", when I could look back over the last decade of music and realized there was no new band who's album I wanted to own. Luckily NIN came out with the Fragile, and my coworkers were impressed with my "singing"# [I sound nowhere like Trent Rezor, but they say I had a good voice  } ] with that album it kept me going through the early 2000s music and further, as KMFDM my original industrial band would put out another album around that time...

#I was a cook at a restaurant that my close friend worked at with me, there was many a time I would be off shift before him, and I would sit in my car a smoke a bowl and listen to NIN and sing along, apparently some of my coworkers thought I was on par with Trent Reznor...to be fair they were getting high too [also], because they may have been smoking the weed I sold them...
