That brother owes us money for his share of the new roof on the cottage that he and Mrs. V own together. He will not leave the North Fork without paying up. Mrs. V is very persuasive.

The Oldies station is torn between two realities.

Their primary supermarket advertiser is talking about Labor Day already being here so stock up for your last summer BBQ.

Other advertisers are still saying that they are now ready with summer items.

Today the high will be 86F and the beaches will be open. However schools open this week so summer people are packing up and heading home.

Mrs. V has told me about years when she was growing up when her family would get up early here and drop her and her siblings at school on their drive home.

Mrs.V is out with her oldest brother and one of her nieces in brother's sailboat.

Probably means a late dinner. ;)

School starts this week on Long Island so the cottage folk with children and the family day trippers are not here on weekdays anymore.

The Oldies station Tuesday evening live concert has most of the DJs in attendance so the DJ who is in the studio and on the air tonight is complaining about having to work while the others are partying. ;)

Turkeys in our front yard just now. The Circle is quiet so the wildlife has returned.

Warm and humid again today. Not 100F+ hot but we don't have air conditioning so humid mid80s is uncomfortable.

Small unprofessional offer of advice. Get a dehumidifier. They are relatively cheap to own and operate $. Yeah not the same as AC but you will survive way better. My AC is set to 78 but almost never kicks on (my aging bones don't like cold air blowing). Checking my indoor readings the humidity is 31 percent right now. Outdoors it is
Humidity
83%
Indoor Humidity
83% (Extremely Humid)

Just a thought.

A good suggestion but our summer cottage is pretty much open to the outdoors. We would have to dehumidfy the entire North Fork. ;)

Seconded. We had a portable dehumidifier down at the cabin for the really muggy days before we got the mini-splits. It worked great!

We have a whole house dehumidifier here at Maybelot. The return air from the central AC system gets dehumidified. It makes a huge difference - we keep the ambient temp around 78 or so and at 45-50% humidity it actually feels a little cold sometimes.

So do our cabin doors and windows, but a little single room dehumidifier made a difference, especially at night when my bed felt all swampy.

Jimmy Buffett was a South Forker. He died in Sag Harbor the home of our local Oldies station.

So the Oldies station has been playing his music all week. This weekend they will be playing interviews they did with him over the years along with reminiscences of him from their DJs.

I tuned in during the local wee hours and got some kind of crime report. Something about robbery, cocaine, etc. It reminded me of the radio I heard in the cab during my only visit to SE Florida. :D

Well, there is some crime here on the east end of LI.

In any case the Saturday Lunch On the Deck Special Jimmy Buffett episode starts at 11 AM EDT in just over half an hour.

We are just outside of the tropical storm watch area for Lee. Still will have a breezy weekend. Hope the power stays on.

Expect high surf and rip currents at the Atlantic beaches on the south side of LI most of which will probably be closed. Some of them are closed anyway since the college kids they hire as lifeguards are back at school.

The dreaded pumpkin traffic should begin this weekend.

The official forecast now calls for high surf up to 12 feet and life threatening rip currents tomorrow and Saturday for the entire south shore of LI. Serious erosion and some overwashes on the barrier islands.

Tropical storm force gusts here on the east end.

Today will be beautiful.
