I can only live so far from the ocean. I beach, therefore I am. Except this summer because of all the surgeries and dislocations and shit, but I still might go to the beach next month or in October. The water is still warm and I can get out in the salty froth and the pounding waves. I accept the fact that moving through the surf is an art form, and I must practice my art.

I heard the DeSantis press conference at 12:30 PM on Hurricane Idalia. It just struck me as odd that he referred to the people whose electricity was off as accounts rather than as people whose electricity was off.

For one thing, they are not the same. Accounts would likely be a smaller number than people affected.

We always refer to "customers" for this reason - it sounds more human. It's very difficult to get an accurate estimate of the actual number of people affected, because the account information doesn't include that, whereas it's very easy to determine the number of accounts that are affected.
