Sources tell ABC News that Trump's legal advisers have told him that holding such a press conference with dubious claims of voter fraud will only complicate his legal problems and some of his attorneys have advised him to cancel it.

Trump announced the planned press conference with a social media post shortly after he and 18 co-defendants were indicted late Monday in Georgia. He said he would present, "A Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable REPORT on the Presidential Election Fraud which took place in Georgia."

I was talking with mrs ado about this. Here is her thought.

He will have the presser and announce that he has (perhaps right here in his tiny hand) the Large, Complex, Detailed but irrefutable REPORT. But, unfortunately, he cannot reveal it. Why? Because he is prevented from doing so by the COURTS! Much of the information in the REPORT is covered by protective orders and such, and, under advice from his lawyers, he is prohibited from releasing it. So sad!!

This will partly satisfy his marks, feed their rage greatly, and keep the money flowing his way. And he doesn't really have to do anything except hold up a 100-page document and wave it around while ranting.

I think she's on to something there.

Former President Donald Trump is planning to skip the first Republican presidential debate on Wednesday and is instead expected to sit for an interview with former Fox News Host Tucker Carlson, multiple sources familiar with his plans tell CNN.

Over the last 24 hours, Trump has increasingly been informing those close to him that he has made his decision, and will not be on the debate stage next week.

The timing for the Carlson interview has yet to be determined, the sources said, but it is expected to air around the same time as the debate. The New York Times first reported the details of the Carlson interview.

CNN previously reported that Trump was not expected to participate in the debate and that his campaign had engaged in conversations with Carlson about a potential interview as counterprogramming for the event.

Trump’s advisers continue to add the caveat, however, that the former president could ultimately change his mind and decide at the 11th hour that he wants to attend the debate.
