I think I am seeing signs of improvement in you, bill_g, and I certainly hope so.
And everybody else stay healthy (or get healthy) por favor, because I'm also not a doctor and even if I was, I don't have access to 30th century medicine, which is what we really need.
In the year 2922 I'll be able to fix whatever ails you.

Bill is living two remarkable, ancient principles - live in the now and breathe.
https://posthood.com/inspirational-quot ... he-moment/One day Gautama Buddha was walking in the woods when three men approached him.
With a sudden curiosity, they asked him if he had seen a woman running away.
Gautama Buddha diligently asked them the reason for chasing this woman.
To this, the men replied that the night before they had brought this woman for merrymaking but instead she drank them to oblivion and stole all their money.
Buddha simply smiled and said, “It is good that she reduced your burden”.
One of the three men was baffled and enraged by those words of Buddha. He thought that Buddha was mocking them.
Buddha sensed his disappointment and explained that the woman was stealing the most important thing from the all of them, that is “their precious time”.
The three men in a confused state look at Buddha as if seeking for an appropriate answer.
Buddha elaborates by saying that the most precious and priceless thing in this world is only time, which is being consumed completely in the chase of a woman.
He further added that they were dragging their past in their present instead they should realize the importance of time and move on in life with lesson learned.
Then, one of the three men questions Buddha, “what if we live in the moment?”
Buddha instantly replies by saying, “if you live in the present then you will be able to discover yourself and find out who you are.”
“You only lose what you cling to” – Buddha

Thank you TRL. I found one that I may have learned on my own.Tiredretiredlawyer wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 10:22 am Bill is living two remarkable, ancient principles - live in the now and breathe.

Day 8 of my recovery. Blood pressure and SpO2 sats good. Energy good. Appetite good. Can't say the same for Mrs. She's spiraled down her old rabbit hole. Nauseous from not eating, and not eating because of nausea. Absolutely miserable and dangerously cranky. Barely drinks water. Knives of Death flare from her eyes whenever I try to get her to nibble on a cracker. I may have to check her into a care facility if she persists, and that's if anyone will take her. Portland is so overwhelmed with flu / RSV / Covid that you literally have to be on death's door to get any attention.
Other than that, I'm doin real good.

This is something very familiar to me, Bill. THC is the only thing that helps with my nausea. Has the Mrs. tried it? We have lots of options here in Oregon.

She refuses to consider it. Very old school about weed and drugs in general. But, she has drawers filled with prescriptions. (shaking head)

My orthopedic surgeon was telling me a story about how he and his grandfather were sorting cows and calves (o.s. grew up on a cattle ranch). The o.s. was on one side of the corral panel, his grandfather was on the other side. His grandfather had had both hips replaced, had pins and plates in his back, etc. My o.s. was diverting the cow's attention, and his grandfather grabbed the calf, flipped it onto its side, and got it vaccinated and branded.

It's 2am and I'm wide awake ... again. I haven't had a full night sleep since all this began the morning of Dec 1st. I need more physical exercise than just walks around the neighborhood. Tis the season to rake leaves. I may give that a try carefully.
Mrs ate yesterday. Woohoo! A whole can of Campbell's Chicken Noodle soup. And two Ritz crackers. And a bit of cheese. Finally. We will do it again today. Baby steps. No more of this suicide by starvation stuff. Next step is to find a mental health specialist that will visit her at home because she isn't ready to get in the car to see a doctor of any kind. What happened to me pushed her personal security buttons hard, and forced her into shutdown. I don't know how to stop that spiral.

There are telecom counselors available and locals might do zoom meetings.
I relate to Mrs. shutting down. I did that when the pandemic hit. Please tell her I personally have experienced learning to eat again. You must establish the habit so your appetite knows when to say you need food. Habits are hard to break, like waking up at 2 a.m.

I'm sorry to hear that. I seem to recall that period and how you disappeared for a bit. I'm glad you made it back.
Mrs had a similar shutdown during covid, but for different reasons. Four things happened: dentures, a UTI, diverticulitus, and covid. Feb or March of 2021 she had her teeth pulled for dentures. By the time her new teeth were ready, we were in lockdown, and the dentist wasn't taking patients. In the meantime, she had a nagging UTI. The doc did a biopsy of the bladder. That became infected, but like the dentist, she couldn't get back in to be seen again. They just wrote prescriptions that didn't really help. So, she couldn't eat for months. Somewhere during that time her old nemesis diverticulitus woke up pissed off and ready to kick ass. Anything she ate caused pain. Consequently she lost a lot of weight. But we ticked each box, got it all under control, and finally got her back to eating solid food regularly this year.
When she found me trying not to die that morning, it hit her hard. Once the doctors pulled me back from the Pearly Gates, and she didn't have to be present anymore, she curled up in bed. She's been like that since. We're making progress though. Apple sauce and blueberry bread for breakfast. Woohoo! I just have to be patient, and let her go through this.

Good luck with everything, Bill! I hope you can find a good mobile therapist and you might even be able to find a good doctor who does in-home care. That's how mine works, and it's wonderful. At least with that, she could have someone checking upd on her overall health, too.
