That is really interesting Gregg. Why do you think your political views diverged so dramatically? IMO, It's because Vance went where the money was. $$$$Gregg wrote: ↑Mon Jul 25, 2022 6:55 pm He grew up 15 miles from me, it's a lot closer to the neighborhood from The Brady Bunch than actual DTA* Appalachia. Middletown is a suburb of Cincinnati and was defined as a town pretty much by a steel mill. There are a lot of people from Appalachia in Middletown, and in Cincinnati in general. A lot of us have pretty close ties to our ancestral roots a hundred miles or so away. But as much as I and JD both like to talk about our hillbilly past, it's not ours, it's our parents and more our grandparents.
JD is like me in a lot of ways. Our families are from Eastern Kentucky, and we both grew up in the suburbs and went to Ivy League schools. I suspect the big difference is I was in the Army for 9 years and I was in Argillite earlier this month.

Re: 2022 Ohio Senate Race
It's a difference in temperaments I guess. I mean, I'm as greedy a prick as the next guy and I've done pretty well for myself, but I I feel that a society as rich as we are, and in the aggregate the USA is richer than Davey Crocket, we should have so many damn poor people. We shouldn't be the only industrial society on the planet with a for profit health care system that leaves people who can't afford things to ruin themselves financially. I think that, and legally this is absolutely wrong and goes against a Board's fiduciary duty, but I fell like a company should take other things into account before it closes a plant in Indiana and moves the jobs to Vietnam just to save a few bucks.
I don't want to write 5,000 words on what happened to him or me, let's just say some people learn to appreciate what they have and be willing to share what they don't need... and some people are assholes.

Yep. He’s my son’s brother-in-law. Their wives are sisters. My son used to look up to him. No longer. He can’t even be in the same room with him. Unfortunate.

More on the latest repulsive views of JD Vance:
In Ohio, news broke today that Republican candidate for the Senate J.D. Vance last September told an audience at a Christian high school that people nowadays get divorced too easily—although divorce rates are actually at a 50-year low—and that they should stay in bad marriages, even violent ones, for the sake of the children. As gun safety advocate Shannon Watts pointed out, this theory is at odds with the reality that “[e]ach month, 70 women are fatally shot by intimate partners in the US, and 1 million women alive today have been shot or shot at by intimate partners.”
From Heather Cox Richardson's July 25 column.

This crap just eats me up. They say things diametrically opposed to reality, and their fanbase just eats it up. I hates me some alternative facts, and I believe them to be very dangerous to our nation.SuzieC wrote: ↑Tue Jul 26, 2022 8:34 am More on the latest repulsive views of JD Vance:

JD Vance said this:
Alex Jones is a far more reputable source of information than Rachel Maddow.
One of them is censored by the regime. The other promoted by it.
I tried to paste this Twitter tweet here but got a message that it was no longer available. Could be my tech ineptitude, though.

Yes, these are rhetorical questions.
