If this Custom Header Logo extension does what it claims (they don't get approved unless they do what they claim), that's going to relieve a massive headache for me every time they upgrade the forum software. Adding the Active Topics and Unread Posts links to the top and bottom of every page is difficult, but I've done it so many times now that reading the code is almost second nature.

But the coding for the logo gets tricky. I think this is going to take that over for me.

Oh yeah, and some poor ol' rooster news - I couldn't find a class I liked at my gym for Wednesday mornings, but this year my insurance covers the Y, so I joined the Y, and I'm going to Cardio Kickboxing at 8:30 a.m. on this glorious May morn.

But first, custom header logos. Cats are fed; Kittybear has taken up residence in the garage; Johnny Bento is on the prowl; no sign of the MooCow yet. She will surface when her mom is up.

Let's do this thing. 8-)
Edit: Umm ... needs fiddling. After covfefe. Didn't break the board anyway. Moar will be revealed ...

Feedback. With prosilver my Samsung phone recognized the larger font setting for mobile. The tablet still is standard :(

I shall alert HiFiKabin. I believe the threshold is 700px, if your tablet is high resolution congratulations you have a very good machine but the Large Font doesn't think it's a phone. And I can't change the threshold.

There is a new version of the phpBB Media Embed extension ... you know, the thing that makes it possible to put YouTubes and tweets and stuff in our posts. Super important extension here on Fogbow, where embedding media is how we live our lives.

So in the morning, when I do my weekly forum maintenance chores (clearing out old logs, optimizing and backing up the database, etc.), I shall update the phpBB Media Embed extension, and our lives will improve by THIS MUCH. :?

No thanks are necessary, I do it for the children.

Here's a thing:

This is the full list of sites from which various media can possibly be embedded. Some are really weird. I haven't enabled them all, if you have one that isn't enabled and is on the list, just ask. I don't know that any more will be included in the new version, but I will check on that.

For the geeks who get into the weeds.

Here's the screen I see on my Admin Control Panel, and here's a link to the full size image (1401 x 1055 px).

Activate Odysee, a bonafide Youtube alternative. Many Youtubers keep a backup there in case YT has a hissy fit.

This morning I updated the software that runs this forum from phpBB version 3.3.7 to version 3.3.8.

Successfully, I might add. But if you are missing anything (no, I didn't take your beer), report problems here.

Yes, board styles and extensions will need to be updated. That will happen as we wander down the road ...

So I got started on the various board styles.

First, I fixed Prosilver, the default style and the one used by most of you.

Then, I looked at how many are using which of the other board styles, and of course X-Creamy has way more users than the next most popular one, which is Prosilver Dark Edition.

I looked at X-Creamy and I can understand why it's a hit, but I can't find anything missing.

Links for Unread Posts and Active Topics, check.
Custom Fogbow logo, check.

Moving on.

I was on for a brief bit around 6am CDT this morning. If I had not needed to log back in, I would have even noticed there was a change. Everything was where I remembered it in GraandNew. The biggest issue I have experienced was trying to remember the name of the style for this post.

I tried doing something last night but you were down at the time, so I checked back later. Then site seemed to be up, but there was the "I updated it, be patient" message.

I tried to leave a message that you didn't break the yellow theme (what ever its called) so all is forgiven, but the message didn't 'take'. You must have had complaint posts turned off or something.

Whatever, it looks good.

Thanks.

About to turn off the board very briefly, the extension for the Advanced BBCodes has been updated, this is really simple and will take less than 5 minutes. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Edit: Done, everything is now up-to-date.

Just so ya know, on the Board Index page you can collapse the various headings, there's a little button on the top right.

More info here, it's not a thing that will change your life, but it's an official phpBB extension and for some it might be nice.
