The program is hosted by the school district but you don’t have to be a student to eat. Anyone under the age of 18 can get free meals throughout the summer with this program, whether they’re a student or not.
Many parents have to rely on schools to feed their children, and that need doesn’t stop just because school’s out for summer. So the summer meals program will feed any child until school starts back up again.
Carrie Richardson, WFISD’s executive chef, said the school district kicked off the program on May 6 so they could also recognize some unsung heroes.
“It’s super important to also recognize our cafeteria workers and our kitchen associates for what they do every day because the love that goes into preparing these meals is just beyond measure and the relationship that they have with these students they see these kids day in and day out,” said Richardson.
The locations for the Summer Meals program include the following schools:
Hirschi High School
Career Education Center
Burgess Elementary
Scotland Park Elementary
Lamar Elementary
Washington/Jackson
Jefferson Elementary
Brook Village
Southern Hills Elementary

For the first time since June 2020, United Regional has zero COVID-19 patients in-house. COVID admissions, and resulting inpatient COVID volumes, have trended significantly downward since early March, finally reaching this long-hoped-for mark. In acknowledging this news, United Regional recognizes and appreciates the staff and physicians who, for the past two (2) years, have selflessly provided care and caring for our community. And, with an uptick in COVID cases again being observed nationwide, United Regional remains prepared to continue caring for the health care needs of our community, whatever comes. But, for now, we’re marking this milestone with gratitude.

Today was an election day in Texas. Many places voted for local officials, school boards, etc.
Here the only things on the ballot were 2 statewide propositions which would reduce property taxes for 65+ people. Just checked and both were winning by about 85% to 15%.

Mrs. V. and daughter have been finalizing their France trip plans. Today was daughter's birthday so we had Indian food delivery for dinner since all the better restaurants were already fully booked due to Mothers Day weekend.
Tomorrow our younger daughter is coming up from Dallas for Mothers Day and we plan to get Italian food delivered.
Mrs. V's birthday is in 10 days so we will be celebrating that too since by then we will be on the North Fork.
