City View ISD board set to discuss arrests

https://www.texomashomepage.com/news/ci ... egal-help/
While the Wichita Falls Police Department continues its investigation into City View ISD, and administrators and their alleged failure to report years of sexual misconduct, the school board is seeking legal help.

The City View board of trustees is planning to discuss the arrests of four current administrators who are charged with failure to report child abuse at Monday night’s meeting.

They will also consult with their legal team regarding the arrests of superintendent Tony Bushong, assistant superintendent Carrie Allen, athletic director Rudy Hawkins and counselor Cindy Leaverton.

According to the agenda, possible employment actions could be taken. There is also a public comment portion of the meeting. It starts at 7p.m. Monday night in the administration building at City View ISD.

Today is our 47th anniversary.

Our older daughter and SIL took us downtown for a fancy champagne brunch.

They do say that when it comes to marriage the first 47 years are the hardest so it should be smooth sailing going forward. ;)

The City View ISD Board held a closed meeting on Monday instead of an open meeting. May have been legal reasons for that.

The 7 arrested administrators have been suspended.

Our daughter, recently resigned from City View ISD, tells us that the long term sub who replaced her has not received training on how to enter student grades into the computer. These are due Sunday.

What a mess.

City View ISD is having a bad month.

Ex-City View official pleads guilty to embezzling thousands from district

https://www.timesrecordnews.com/story/n ... 915566007/
A former City View ISD tax collector was sentenced Thursday for embezzling from the school district, court records show.

Judith Ann Heaston, 67, pleaded guilty to theft over $300,000 and was ordered to pay CVISD restitution of $323,382, court documents show.

Heaston is to pay $8,000 per month and one last payment of $7,382.51.

Eighty-ninth District Judge Charles Barnard sentenced Heaston to five years of probation Thursday for the Feb. 6, 2019, offense. He also ordered her to pay a $750 fine and $345 in court costs and do $320 hours of community service.

The first degree felony is punishable by up to life in prison.

This afternoon Mrs. V and our daughter are shopping together at Sam's Club since our daughter now has time for such weekend activities since she stopped teaching.

There was a time when I never thought I would be happy that a family member of mine stopped being a teacher. That time has gone. :(

I am glad for you, V. But at the same time, I am sad for the teachers in this great land of ours.

I have related how a couple of teachers at a little county community college in Maryland turned my life around, when I was 21 years old. I hate thinking that people like that are leaving the profession. :(

Not Texoma but the town in which I grew up in Massachusetts.

The last 2 public school buildings left from my school years are being torn down. The land will be used for sports fields and parking lots. All that will be left are my elementary school building (long since converted to an office building) and part of my old high school which was incorporated into the current JR/SR high school complex. :(

I feel old. ;)

However the Depression era WPA-built school football/baseball stadium survives. I suffered thru many physical education classes there. ;)

Our 2 new high schools, which will replace the existing 3 high schools, are on schedule and under budget. :o

I went to three different schools in Pittsburgh. They are all still there, with one designated as a historic public school, no longer operated as a school, and the other two still in operation. The high school, in the middle of the city in Squirrel Hill (site of the synagogue shooting a few years ago), is a gifted school in the arts now and has had a huge addition added to the front since I went there. It had a massive grassed front yard when I went there. I pass both the two that are still in operation often. I expect both of them to be there for a long time, and the one that is no longer operating as a school is being turned into a community center. It's interesting to see what happens to things from our youth.

Was sitting in the cardiologist's waiting room just now. My brother's stepson called to tell me that my brother died last night of a massive infection. Quite a surprise. Of course we haven't been very close the last few years.

Not many of us left. :(

Yesterday evening (Thursday) our daughter had to drive herself and a child advocate volunteer she supervises to an evening meeting about a child who was placed in a community about a 2 1/2 hour drive away.

On their way they had to drive thru three waves of hail and very heavy rain.

(Yep, we finally got some significant precipitation. ;) )

They got back OK. (For this kind of trip she drives a vehicle owned by her employer. She gets paid for drive time. )
