Yes! That I remember He kind of had a habit of getting places to pass unconstitutional laws and then help plaintiffs file sue over those very same laws. The man is an utter asshat.raison de arizona wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 11:05 am Kobach also screwed over AZ with his lawyerly law writing skills that were all unconstitutional and cost AZ millions. A lot of which ended up… In Kobach’s pocket.

FLASH: Justice Dept recommends six months in prison and $200,000 fine for Steve Bannon
Sentencing is scheduled for Friday
DOJ wants Bannon fined $200,000 "based on his insistence on paying the maximum fine rather than cooperate with the Probation Office’s routine pre-sentencing financial investigation."
I tried that once when a cop pulled me over for speeding, "But everyone else is too, why did you pick me to ticket?" Didn't work. Went to court, didn't work there either but they did lower the ticket to 1-10 over the limit for me (was 11-15). But I didn't claim any freedom of speech, just everybody else was doing it, why can't I?
As I understand it, 5 days off per month for good behavior nominally, but the calculus is kind of confusing and in practice works out to be less than that.raison de arizona wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 2:10 pm I wish they would have fined him the full $200k, arrogant SOB, but I'm pleased with the four months in the pokey. Is that a real four months, or is there time off for good behavior, etc.
At his initial intake, yes, after not so much....
There was a story a few years ago about a Native teenager who died in custody from alcohol withdrawal syndrome or something similar. I wish I could find it. This sounds similar.New Turtle wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 3:25 pm Still not sure he can do more than 3 days without being hospitalized for alcohol withdrawal.
The inmates AKA Cellies will enforce bathing unless he is in solitaire. The have been known to scrub nasty smelly people with toilet brushes an mop water until the skill is learned.
I don't think they will go at him like that. They know he has money.Wintermute wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 4:03 pmThe inmates AKA Cellies will enforce bathing unless he is in solitaire. The have been known to scrub nasty smelly people with toilet brushes an mop water until the skill is learned.
I thought it only applied if the sentence was longer than 1 year, which is why some are sentenced to a year and a day.Maybenaut wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 2:23 pmAs I understand it, 5 days off per month for good behavior nominally, but the calculus is kind of confusing and in practice works out to be less than that.raison de arizona wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 2:10 pm I wish they would have fined him the full $200k, arrogant SOB, but I'm pleased with the four months in the pokey. Edited to add “per month.”
