Greetings from Little Rock!

We are 400 miles closer to the North Fork than we were yesterday. Just 1300 miles left to go.

Speaking of the North Fork, while we were on the road today Mrs. V's cousin (who lives down by the Bay let us know her husband just tested positive for Covid.

He is fully vaccinated and double boosted so we are hoping for a good outcome. He is mildly symptomatic and is isolating himself. Mrs. V's cousin tested negative.

Greetings from Chambersburg PA which is a scant 300 miles from the North Fork.

Of course those 300 miles must include at least 3 of the 5 boroughs of NYC.

There are 3 college graduations near Chambersburg this weekend. Every hotel is full, the restaurants are packed. We have ordered via Doordash. ;)

Just in time for our return. :?

Surge in virus cases puts most of NY, including Suffolk, at high risk for infection

We have arrived after a truly miserable crossing of NYC. First warm sunny day and seemingly the whole city wanted to drive somewhere.

On the plus side, Google Maps took me thru parts of north Jersey that I had never seen before trying to get me around traffic problems on I 95 west of the GWB.

Still, you were in Jersey...

Despite a 40% chance of rain it is a beautiful sunny morning as we wait on the porch for the plumber to come turn on the water.

The new cat is busy exploring the wonders of our cottage.

After over 1700 miles in 4 days and a rush when we got here yesterday to clear things out to make way for the plumber I am exhausted.

Mrs.V has gone out to the local bagel shop which changed names over the winter to get us some breakfast sandwiches.

Our keto diet is temporarily on hold until the cottage is up and running normally. ;)

New cat is in heaven. ;) All the birds and squirrels just a few feet away.

Our neighbor to the west is no longer able to drive. :(

Mrs.V's cousin (who lives on the Circle) drives him where he needs to go.

We are all getting older. :(

Opening the cottage gets harder every year. :( Having sons in law that live 1700 miles from the North Fork was poor planning on our part. ;)

Mrs.V's friend with whom she had planned to attend the Amherst Early Music event has tested positive for Covid.

Mrs. V's cousins from upstate NY are here opening the cottage just east of us. Right now they are using a chainsaw on something.

Now they are mowing.

Figures, Mrs. V just went up for a lie down.

Today is Mrs. V's birthday.

We celebrated with a take out meal from our favorite local Italian restaurant.

We had-

Baked clams

Greek salad

Lasagna

Brooklyn style sausage pizza.

And there is enough left over for two more meals. ;)

Mrs.V is going to have surgery on her other hip in September. She won't be going into Manhattan this time. She will be getting it done on the NF which will be much more convenient.

In any case her Manhattan surgeon is no longer practicing so that is not an option.

The Modern Snack Bar which has reopened for the season in April as long as I can recall (since 1977) this year is reopening today, well into May.

I hope that neither of the brothers is ill.

Mrs.V's BFF whom she has known since before she was born is bedridden for the second time with Covid.

Long Island is getting hammered again.
