It being Sunday evening WLNG is playing local oldies for an hour before 3 hours of The Doo Wop Stop.

The rain is over. The daytrippers have left for home.

Really need to go to bed. The tree service is coming tomorrow to work on the Circle and on our properties and they start early.

However the blustery winds we have had all weekend have calmed so the porch feels warmer than it has all day and the Sunday evening traffic has cleared so it is very quiet.

As soon as I wrote the previous sentence a light airplane passed to the west.

The tree guys are hard at work. There will be no peace in the Circle today.

Large chipper just drove in. It's so loud I can't hear the chainsaws.

I never cease to be surprised when branches that didn't look particularly big on the tree look huge once on the ground.

Mrs.V wisely is going into Brooklyn today with one of her more distant cousins who has gotten permission to visit a cemetary where many of their ancestors are buried.

EAR PLUGS. I haz them.

We have not had the trees in the Circle pruned for quite a few years. The Circle is already much brighter with the branches thinned out. The power lines are no longer threatened. I can see the flag on the tall pole in the Circle.

This is the largest tree crew we have ever had in the Circle. They are working like a well oiled machine.

The chipper truck is full so it is heading out to unload. It will be a little quieter for a while.

The tale grows in the telling. We have decided to take down one more tree in the Circle approved by a unanimous vote of the home owners association officers and other members present.

Now taking down a large high trunk section by section as sawdust rains down on the Circle.

Buzz. Thud! Buzz. Thud! Etc.

Things got quiet for a while when they were raking up but now they have brought out a stump grinder.

That stump grinder is a fearsome piece of equipment.

The little cottage that Mrs.V owns with her brother is being winterized as I type this. One more step on the way to head back to Texas.

The weather here this week is perfect, low 70s with bright sunshine. Hard to get into shutdown mode but we know the freezing weather is coming.

My dental appointment tomorrow has been cancelled due to the hygienist being ill.

Our flu shots this afternoon were cancelled by CVS for reasons unknown.

Sigh.

It's Throwback Thursday this evening on WLNG Oldies 92.

Seems that every day would be a Throwback day on a station dedicated to playing oldies but whatever.

Oh deer.



This disease has already killed thousands of deer upstate.

I thought this would be about wasting disease.

Beautiful Friday afternoon but our lawn service guys just arrived. Ten minutes of loud noise.

OK, they're gone.

After last night's cold front the weather has turned autumnal and tree leaves in the Circle are finally showing some colors.

With just over a week before we leave it is time to go into serious close down mode. I will be posting less for about 2 weeks until we return to Texas.
