Our mowers didn't come yesterday. They came this morning about 8 AM.

Well, they beat the rain.

And they got us out of bed. ;)

Serious rain forecast for tonight.

Mrs.V leaves for Connecticut at Noon taking the Port Jefferson Ferry to Bridgeport. She is catching a ride with one of her early music buddies.

It will be a quiet Memorial Day weekend here since some relatives we expected had a change of plans and won't be coming until late June.

Our older daughter will arrive Sunday evening at the Islip Airport.

Mrs.V has passed her second Covid test and is good to go to her early music event.

The event organizers required a negative test yesterday and another negative test this morning.

One of Mrs. V's early music buddies tested positive yesterday and had to cancel. :(

At this event everyone will be playing renaissance era style wind instruments in ensembles indoors. They have to be careful to prevent disease transmission.

And it will seem like half of those 39 million will be driving to the North Fork. ;)

After a rainy night it is cloudy and cool. Traffic is very light. Google Maps might run out of green pixels today. ;)

The radio was expecting heavy traffic last night and today on both Forks. However LI highways are green all the way to NYC.

This weekend is the air show featuring the Blue Angels over Fire Island. The air show loving bartender at our favorite Italian restaurant last night told me that yesterday's rehearsal was cancelled due to the clouds. Maybe today's performance is iffy which might partly explain why traffic is light today. :(

Tomorrow and Memorial Day are supposed to be beautiful so maybe tourism will improve.

A mower has been at work to the west all morning.

Must be using a very small lawnmower because there are no large properties in that direction.

So much for clearing weather this afternoon. Just got an alert about approaching thunderstorms.

Checked the NWS radar map. Yes storms are coming.

Really should ignore the weather forecasts on the local radio station. They always predict good weather in order to attract more tourists. ;)

Perfect weather this morning.

In the absence of Mrs. V. I need to go feed the cats. Already cleaned the litter box.

Oh, and I have to take my many pills. So many pills. :?

Older daughter on the plane for the first of her 3 flights to get to Long Island today.

Strangely there doesn't seem to be much demand for direct flights from Wichita Falls to Long Island. ;)

At least none of her flights were among the thousands of flights canceled this weekend.

Daughter just got on plane for Philadelphia. Just another 6 hours before she gets to LI.

And then another hour before I will get her on the North Fork.

The local Oldies radio station just played "Pineapple Princess" which I have never heard them play before.

This 1960 song which was Annette's biggest hit (topping at #11) has become somewhat obscure now.

Hawaii became a state in August 1959 and many artists released Hawaiian themed albums.

Someone quite nearby has chosen the hottest afternoon of the year so far to mow.

I should pay more attention so as to be able to identify who is mowing from the sound of the lawnmower. ;)

Our daughter is mowing the Circle.

That used to be me out there.

She borrowed Mrs. V's cousin's lawnmower which he is too old to use.

Late Friday evening and the lawnmowers at last are silent.

The dogs are not. :(

It's quiet here this evening.

Unfortunately, our city allows outdoor fires until midnight. The weather was perfect today, but I had to shut the windows tonight because of the awful smell of smoke.

A perfect Sunday morning or would be but for a lawnmower. ;)

I'm not a religious man but I am happy to observe quiet time once a week on Sunday mornings.

When I was a boy most lawnmowers weren't gas engine powered. It was more work to use them but they were fairly quiet.

OK, lawnmower has stopped.

I dig push mowers. If I had a lawn, that's what I'd use.

My daughter and her husband use one. We just bought them a new one for Christmas. They have a lot of perennials and a small fruit and vegetable garden, so they don't have a large area to mow, though.

Mrs.V and our daughter got emails from Air France this morning telling them to arrive at JFK for their outbound flight 4 hours early this Friday.

Previously the recommendation was 3 hours early.

At this rate they may end up staying at JFK longer than they will be on the airplane.

Actually when the time in the limo going to JFK is included that is not a joke.

Monday morning and things should be quiet.

Nope. Some 1٪er's private plane just went overhead at near treetop altitude.

The town of East Hampton has been considering closing their airport because the locals are sick and tired of the noise every summer weekend. Those of us on the North Fork under the flight path strongly support that.
