The South Fork will be a traffic nightmare this week.

1- the last week of the summer visitors.

2- the Hamptons Classic Horse Show all week.

3- the Shinnecock Pow Wow next weekend.

Good time to stay on the North Fork.

As Labor Day rapidly approaches some local radio advertisers are stuck in early summer.

A new commercial from a South Fork car dealership has a husband and wife discussing where to take their summer road trip. By the time they could buy a new car, summer will be over. ;)

They could use it for pumpkin festivals.

We ordered a Ford Mustang Mach E back in February, scheduled delivery was July. Then August, then September. Now October.

It’ll get here when it gets here.

The trash truck just arrived almost 3 hours later than usual.

That reflects how many people are out on the North Fork this week putting out trash. In 2 weeks the trash truck will be getting here about 9 AM.

We're lucky to get one of our 2 scheduled pickups a week. The inept mayor and our city council and the trash company are headed to federal court. Company bid, mayor awarded contract, city council vetoed contract, mayor vetoed their veto, it all went to court, judge said you can't veto a negative, so no valid contract and no payment for trash pickup since (I think) May 1. The mayor is appealing the can't veto a veto ruling, and the trash company is suing the city for payment, and the city council is suing the mayor to make him pay it because they never approved the contract but he signed it anyway.

Meanwhile, we have no drinkable water.

Second day of the local Oldies station broadcasting from the Hamptons Classic Horse Show. Three days to go.

DJs already running out of horse related comments. ;)

The Oldies station has broadcast from the horse show for decades. I am beginning to wonder why they continue to do so.

Would like to see a Venn diagram of how much overlap there is between Oldies lovers and wealthy horse fanciers. :confuzzled:

While much of the country studies the latest DOJ filing, here on the North Fork we anxiously wait to see how late the recycling truck will be today.

It is the same truck and driver that picked up the trash yesterday 3 hours late.

This truck is a small truck used for narrow private dirt roads which the full sized trucks can't squeeze onto.

Well, Thoreau mentioned trains passing his cottage but I don't recall that he had trash pickup. ;)

From what I recall in an American Lit class, Thoreau hung out at Walden Pond on weekends and took the train back to Boston during the week. It wasn't like he was on an Outward Bound trek.

Too, also, his mother packed him lunches. No need for garbage pickup.

We have over-romanticized his isolation into something it really wasn't. I am not sure whether Thoreau was a scammer or whether the Flower Power generation created this mythology long after he died.
