I've been seeing reports for the last day that the door to the classroom in Uvalde was not actually locked as they waited for the key, and that the officers never attempted to open it. Dunno if it is accurate, but normally reliable Twitter accounts are starting to repeat it.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised to find out the door was unlocked, open, a red line taped on the floor leading to the shooter who was wearing a t-shirt with a target on it stating, "Shoot me now, motherfuckers."

Mike Hixenbaugh @Mike_Hixenbaugh wrote: Texas Sen. Bob Hall, a Republican, just claimed that the Uvalde shooter could have murdered all those kids with his hands or a baseball bat since he had so much time: "It's not the gun, it's the person."

This is, of course, absurd, since his gun is what kept police in the hall.

Hall also argued that laws can't stop evil and then blamed schools not teaching proper values and bail reform for violence, worked in a reference to Chicago gun crime.
To be fair, Senator Bob Hall has warned of death lasers from outer space in the past, so it isn't as if his constituents don't expect this sort of thing from him.

I don't know what to say. Maybe the officers that want to help need to threaten the ones that don't and start arresting them rather than the other way around. I guess it is a numbers game. Poor guy, really sad story, his wife was left to die after calling him for help while he, a Uvalde school police officer, was stripped of his gun, detained, and escorted off the premises for trying to go in and save some lives.
Officer husband of slain Uvalde teacher was detained, had gun taken away after trying to save wife
Texas DPS director said Eva Mireles told her husband she ‘had been shot and was dying’

Shocking testimony from the Texas DPS director on Tuesday has revealed even more insight into the “abject failure” of response to the Uvalde shooting that occurred on May 24.

Texas Department of Public Safety Director Col. Steven McCraw revealed that the husband of slain elementary teacher Eva Mireles tried to save her but was barred from doing so.

Ruben Ruiz is a police officer for the school district and was on the scene after the gunman entered the school and opened fire.

McCraw said Mireles called Ruiz and told him that “she had been shot and was dying.”

“And what happened to him, is he tried to move forward into the hallway,” McCraw said. “He was detained and they took his gun away from him and escorted him off the scene.”

McCraw didn’t say who specifically detained Ruiz.

New teachers (who have college degrees) earn more than that.

Not in AZ. Which is probably why we have billboards from TX poaching them.

 Well- that's good I suppose. Didn't take a screenshot of it, but it was records purportedly showing the the Uvalde school police chief donated to both Beto and Biden, followed by speculation that he allowed the massacre to happen in order to further the Democrat gun control agenda. Yuck.

P.S. She is screwed. She has a target on her back now. The PD is undoubtedly going to make her life a living hell. She needs to move.
The latest. She’s been sticking it out so far, but she is living separately from her children. Assholes. Can’t say it surprises me though.

Maybe instead of harassing her bc she made them look bad, they should make her a police officer. At least she didn't stand around with her thumb up her butt.

No way would they do that - each and everyone of them every day would look at her and know what abject failures they are.

Looks like little Dalton is going to be going through some things. Some felony things. Also, FWIW, there is a gun in the house.

I've dealt with people like that. Had a (former) friend whose kid was a big-time juvie. When the cops came to her over...something, she insisted he couldn't have done it because he wouldn't hurt her like that.
