Wow, that's 8/2019. No idea that this was so old. That's kinda interesting.

Yeah, I saw that, and a story about another teen who’d also been locked up about the same time. It looked like his real name had been used.

This is just beyond anything…anything I’ve ever seen in an investigation of this magnitude. Significant piece of information released yesterday, the Uvalde mayor says is not true.

If he's referring to the officer who asked for permission to shoot but never got an answer, every report I've seen has said it was a Border Patrol officer, not a Uvalde officer.

Uvalde footage is emerging reportedly showing cops running away and hiding from the gunman.

per CNN per Austin American Stateman

Whelp, saw the edited video. CNN cut the kid's voices and gunshots. Still incredibly disturbing. I weep.

Also, more cops than a donut shop. And they just stood there.

Tapper is taking it to them. To the cops.
We need to remind our viewers that the very first thing the police and the politicians did after this horrifying massacre was praise themselves and how brave they were and how courageous their response was. That was the first thing.

Listen, I'm not even going to quote this article. It's heart breaking. It's bad.
Be careful before you click the link above, the words and the video are heart-rending.

Not gonna lie, this is making the cops look even worse than I thought possible. Lots of diatribes against even the police's humanity. This isn't one of those, just shedding more light for those that may not want to view the article.

I'm leaving this person's name off it, it's extreme and I feel she may regret it, but it is the kind of thing I'm seeing floating about the Twitterverse currently:

It wasn’t mentioned in that story, and we have mentioned it here, but as a reminder, the level of harassment she is experiencing from the police is such that she has to move her children out of the home. Asshats.

Sadly, I'm not surprised that a fuck ton of police officers were not willing to risk their lives for a bunch of brown children.
There's a lot of things that need to change. One specifically? Police brutality.

New video shows police in Uvalde waiting in hallway while gunman fires

By Arelis R. Hernández and Lateshia Beachum
Updated July 12, 2022 at 9:40 p.m. EDT|Published July 12, 2022 at 6:21 p.m. EDT

Newly available video obtained by the Austin American-Statesman shows a gunman walking into a Uvalde, Tex., elementary school undeterred on May 24, only to later fire at unseen targets as police milled about during the massacre in which 21 people would die.

The footage offered a dramatic view of what authorities had already confirmed: that more and more officers gathered in the school building’s hallways as time went on, but did not move en masse to take down the gunman. The new video shows one officer stopping to squirt sanitizer on his hand; at another time, two fist-bump one another.

In the video, which the newspaper published Tuesday afternoon, Salvador Ramos is shown crashing his truck near Robb Elementary School, dust billowing behind his vehicle. Two men approach the crash before running away. One trips, falls and roll over on the pavement.

The next seconds shift to a panicked woman calling 911. She is not identified in the footage.

“The kids are running,” she screams before a caption says Ramos fired at the school from its parking lot. The terror rises in her voice as she yells at children to get into their classrooms.

Cellphone video then shows Ramos, 18, entering the school with his rifle, looking around before he exits the frame. As he turns the hall, a child peers around the corner and sees Ramos, who unleashes countless rounds off-camera. The frightened child runs back to where he came from, exiting the frame.

The American-Statesman reported that Ramos fired his weapon for 2½ minutes in two classrooms. Authorities have stated that Ramos fired more than 100 rounds.

Video link below taken from a different source:
  • The video footage and audio contained in this report are disturbing. In an editorial message, the Austin-American Statesman wrote about why it decided to publish the video: "Our goal is to continue to bring to light what happened at Robb Elementary, which the families and friends of the Uvalde victims have long been asking for. We have also chosen to show the face of the gunman as he enters this school. Our news organization guidelines state that we should not glorify these individuals and give them the notoriety that they seek. We chose, in this instance, to show his face to chisel away at any conspiracy that we are hiding something."

Those pure unadulterated cowards. And it wasn't enough to and idly by and allow people, and allow CHILDREN to die, they had to fucking arrest parents desperately trying to save their children. (And don't even get me started on the fact that the police have continued to harass them.) A husband arrested, who IS A UVALDE OFFICER, desperately trying to save his wife. Who FUCKING BLED OUT AND DIED AT THE HOSPITAL OVER AN HOUR AFTER THEY COULD HAVE SAVED HER.

Hate them. I hope hell is big, because there is going to need to be special places for all of these degenerates.

HISD has 280 campuses, and other facilities. Their police department has only 202 officers.

Of course if HISD were to try to raise school taxes to beef up its police department others members of the public would strongly oppose them.
