Foggy wrote: Wed Oct 06, 2021 12:51 pm I may be wrong, Sugar M. will probably know, but I don't think you're supposed to call 911 because you saw a suspect. I think you're only supposed to use it for emergencies. "I saw a kid they think shot and wounded 4 people" is not an emergency, IMHO. Unless there's reason to think he's imminently about to shoot a few more.

Yeah, call it in. No, don't use 911.
Nope. 911.

The admin number is for something that can wait for a officer or that only requires a report. 911 is for anything that is time-sensitive. If you see the guy walking down the street and call the admin line it may be 10 minutes before someone shows up. If you call 911 when you see him walking down the street they might catch him before he reaches the corner. Any in-progress call, from a fight to a shooting to a house burglary should go to 911. They will often keep you on the line for updates on location of the suspect so the officers know what to look for on the way. A stolen vehicle, your yard got egged last night, or you're going to be out of town and want extra police presence on your street is the admin line.
Not to :horse:

but 911 is also what you would dial to report a drunk driver on the highway. Kinda the same thing.

If you do not know the admin number, you can call 911 and tell them " this is a non-emergency call, please transfer me to...".

$75k bond, the NY Post has an interesting article about him being bullied for being wealthy, along with being jumped and robbed, which is why they say he purchased the gun. Apparently there is video of him getting jumped earlier in the day? It's worth a read if you're interested in the case.

Who and where was he radicalized?

oh.. he was just a normal US teen.. doing what a normal US teen does.. :/

from the article link:
Within five minutes, the authorities said, a sophomore at the school had shot 11 people, killing three fellow students.

Oxford High School took student safety seriously, with a no-weapons policy, consistent active shooter training and multiple security guards stationed at the school.

The gunman, whose name was not immediately released, fired 15 to 20 shots with a semiautomatic handgun, the authorities said.

A 15-year-old sophomore surrendered to the police after firing a semiautomatic handgun. The dead included a 16-year-old boy, a 14-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl. Michigan’s governor condemned the attack, saying “no one should be afraid to go to school.”

I did an arc flash study of the facility the shooter is being detained in (both juvie and jail). I believe it was 2013. It was rather interesting seeing the facility, and the care that we had to take while I was taking my notes. I wasn't allowed any tools and was escorted by an armed guard.

Just watched the Oakland County Sheriff's evening presser. The gun, a 9mm Sig Sauer, was purchased on November 26 by the shooter's father. Parents showed up at the school, told the kid not to talk to the police and hired an attorney. Some of the questions involved social media posts by the shooter showing off the gun and saying he was practicing with it. The old man is facing serious criminal and civil liability, IMHO.

Don Lemon has a former FBI guy on who noted the kid was a very good shot. Looks like Daddy took him to the range a lot. As I said, serious criminal and civil problems for Dad and maybe Mom. Responsible gun owners. :fuckyou:

What's the bet he goes with the Kyle self defense claim....

He was in deadly fright of all of the other students - he feared for his safety... he thought they would take his gun and use it on him.. etc etc etc

CNN reported on air that another of the students from yesterday's shooting has passed away. I believe they said she was 17. Also, police will have a press conference later today.

17yo boy is what I'm seeing, FWIW. Horrible. I've also seen some really disturbing snapchat videos that I've chosen not to post here.

As the onion always says, there was no way to prevent this, says the only nation where this regularly happens.

The suspect is 15, correct? From the recent/short presser, the prosecutor is charging him as an adult and four counts of murder and other charges as well. They said it was intentional/planned, not some spur of the moment thing.

https://www.thedailybeast.com/ethan-cru ... ss-shooter
The shooter who allegedly killed four students and injured seven, including a teacher, at Michigan’s Oxford High School has been publicly identified as 15-year-old sophomore Ethan Crumbley.

At a Wednesday press conference, Oakland County prosecutor Karen McDonald told reporters that Crumbley has been charged as an adult with one count of terrorism, four counts of first-degree murder, seven counts of assault with intent to murder, and 12 counts of possession of a firearm. More charges may be added later, said McDonald.

McDonald said evidence shows Crumbley started planning the attack “well before the incident.”

“This isn’t even a close call,” she said. “This was absolutely premeditated.
