Who are not “real people”?
Re: Virginia Governor - Terry McAuliffe v Glenn Youngkin - Nov 2
Say what? Douglas Wilder was elected Lt. Gov. of Virginia in 1985, and was elected Governor in 1988. Justin Fairfax is our current Lt. Governor. Winsome Sears is the first woman, and the first woman of color, to be elected.orlylicious wrote: ↑Wed Nov 03, 2021 1:45 amll, have confidence it'll turn around.
Trying to take a moment to, unlike Trumpers, congratulate them on their win. It's been a long time since they've had one. And it's a point of pride for everyone that Winsome Sears was elected as the first Black Lt Gov in VA's history. So taking the opportunity to congratulate the R team on this, we have to set an example that when an election is over, it's over. Heartened that there are a lot of Republicans who appreciate that, any small places we can get the conversation going again is vitally important.

I didn't take the VA loss as bad as I thought I would, not that I'm turning cartwheels. I'd guess about half of the public doesn't pay attention to what's going on, 25% do and the other 25-30% watch Fox News. I've still got fingers crossed we pull off NJ.
As for those who aren't paying attention, all they know is gas prices are up and their Christmas may be ruined because their Chinese-made gifts are bobbing up and down on a freighter off Long Beach. It must be the Dems fault bc they're in charge right now, so let's vote in the people we just voted out because something, something, Capitol tourists.

There have been six Republican governors of Virginia since 1970:Suranis wrote: ↑Wed Nov 03, 2021 1:09 am
But the Dems lose the vote Governorship in a state that only went for a Dem governor once in the last 11 elections since the 1970s, to a Republican who ran a campaign distancing himself from Trump, While winning everywhere else. and we are back to "you should have run Bernie instead!"
Linwood Hilton
Mills Godwin
John Dalton
George Allen
Jim Gilmore
Bob McDonnell
And only seven Democratic governors:
Chuck Robb
Gerald Baliles
Douglas Wilder
Mark Warner
Tim Kaine
Terry McAuliffe
Ralph Northam
Everyone thinks Virginia is a blue state, but it’s not.

So white women swung back to Youngkin after voting for Biden over Trump. They didn't want the gross OSG but felt safe voting for Youngkin as a "normal" Republican. He ran a race-baiting campaign but packaged himself as a nice, normal suburban dad. Dems need to figure out how to respond to the CRT nonsense because it will sure enough become a template for future races.

Youngkin obviously stole the election. Fraud! Audit!

Polling shows many women have turned off politics. Wait until The Texas abortion ban gets introduced in VA or worse SCOTUS overrules Roe. Then they will wonder how this happened.SuzieC wrote: ↑Wed Nov 03, 2021 9:28 am So white women swung back to Youngkin after voting for Biden over Trump. The whole CRT nonsense is a failure of Democratic communications and messaging. Where are Jamie Harrison and the DNC? Where is Kamala Harris? The Democrats have some effective communicators in the House ( Sean Patrick Mahoney, and yes Tim Ryan and many others) Sherrod Browm and others in the Senate but I never see them.
There are good Democratic Comms firms out there but they don’t seem to be using them. There needs to be messaging that gets pounded every day, every week. Biden got the child tax credit through but people don’t know that. Because the messaging is nonexistent.

Sorry Maybenaut, meant to say Winsome was the first woman, it was late. Happy to see several hundred liked the tweet, but it shouldn't be a big deal to have decency and accept winners and losers in elections. Social media continues to be really destructive. But we have to keep trying.
With these news cycles at the speed of light, we'll be on to the next thing in a hot minute. And the Braves won the World Series, that's getting more attention than one governor's race in Virginia. News networks have to drag it out to keep people watching, but ratings are showing folks are getting pretty tired of that. And once and for all, the twice impeached disgraced loser is out of office, back to his 2015 search interest and irrelevant. Voters didn't care last night, let's move on. So no more of him for us.
It's also about to the tipping point with live streaming for free -- in the What are you watching topic, looked at the rapid decline of traditional TV viewers. CNN and MSNBC didn't offer their main live streams last night. As cutting the cord keeps accelerating, while election night coverage is interesting, with so many alternative outlets with the same data, wonder if they will still have paywalls by the midterms.
We're totally optimistic! Democrats are putting real benefits on the table and lots more are coming. Nobody is stopping work on BBB and infrastructure... with the majorities for another year, there's passion to make people's lives better. When voters see results, and they will, we'll keep the House and Senate. No doubt in our minds.

You try being an effective communicator when the Media will not put you on the air.
As I said before. Hillary Clinton was doing 8 interviews a day in her campaignand people were still saying she was never talking to reporters and was not making an effort to communicate. Why? Because they were carrying Trump Rallies live, and not running anything from Clinton bar a 15 second soundbite in passing after an hour of Trump trash, which did not even have her speaking
Communicating does not work when the megaphone is not transmitting your voice. For all you know Kamala Harris was talking non stop, but you simply could not hear her.
Rather than just bitch that the Dems are not communicating. Start formulating strategies to force the media giants to put members of the Democratic Party on their screens becasue right now they would rather put on a republican janitor than interview a member of the Democratic Party.
Or you could blame the victim. As usual.

I wish this VA race would lead to serious soul searching and self-reflection by mainstream media who referred to Youngkin’s race-baiting lies on CRT as clever strategy. But it won’t.

"People are saying" "WINSOME SEARS FOR VP!"
I get the obvious similarities: Harris and Sears are both African American women with Jamaican ancestry.
But Sears actually was born in Jamaica and naturalized as a child. Under no definition is she a natural-born citizen.

The problem isn't that Trump rallies got broadcast. The problem is that America wasn't overwhelmingly appalled by them.

Youngkin's win is solid proof that Joe Biden lost the election in a massive mudslide last November. He even lost Virginia, which would have voted Republican if'n it wasn't for all the cheaters and haters and bad people. BAD!

Ol' Wifehorn looked at the lady who won the lieutenant governorship.
She had some very unladylike comments. Comments that were unflattering. "Whackjob" is about the nicest thing she said.

Well, if you believe we dressed up as trump supporters to stop the certification of an election we won, then, yeah.

Just asking questions...
On Tuesday Glenn Youngkin won the governor’s race in Virginia. He was an impressive candidate and it was a stunning win.
As Joe Hoft reported earlier today — One year ago 300,000 votes magically appeared for Joe Biden in the middle of the night to give him the win in Virginia. These magical votes have yet to be explained. The Democrats, fake news and even the Republican Party are incurious.
So where were the magical votes this year? Was this omission on purpose? Was this part of a larger psyop on the American public? Was this part of their game? Throw in McAuliffe as a sacrificial lamb knowing they can steal any future election at will?
So, was the 2021 Virginia race a head-fake by Democrats on the American public?

Because they decided to count mail-in ballots before the end of voting instead of waiting until after the in-person voting had ended like in 2020?raison de arizona wrote: ↑Wed Nov 03, 2021 4:05 pmbob wrote: ↑Wed Nov 03, 2021 3:26 pm https://twitter.com/ZTPetrizzo/status/1 ... 6857734144
