Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin & LT Gov Winsome Sears

This is a big race, seeing Terry +9 is encouraging. Early voting began in the Old Dominion on Friday. Election day is Tuesday, November 2, 2021.

Youngkin's big thing is eliminating the grocery tax. He's wishy washy on COVID and backs Right to Work (Terry wants vax mandates and is opposed on RTW).
Poll: Democrat McAuliffe Leads Youngkin in Virginia’s Governor’s Race
HANNAH BLEAU 21 Sep 2021

Former Democrat Gov. Terry McAuliffe is leading Republican Glenn Youngkin in the Virginia governor’s race, according to a poll conducted by the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University. According to the survey, released Monday, 43 percent of likely voters support McAuliffe — nine points higher than the 34 percent who chose Youngkin. This reflects a greater lead than McAuliffe saw last month, when he led Youngkin by three percentage points, 40 percent to 37 percent. “With Election Day only six weeks out, a significant number of Virginia’s voters remain undecided or unwilling to vote for either candidate in each race. In the governor’s race, 23% of voters remain undecided or unwilling to vote for either candidate — the same percentage as August,” the survey noted:

2021 #VAGov Poll:
Terry McAuliffe (D) 43% (+9)
Glenn Youngkin (R) 34%
@VCU ~ 731 LV ~ 9/7-9/15 https://t.co/3H7JLGjv8G
— PollTracker (@PollTrackerUSA) September 20, 2021

“Our recent poll relative to the governor’s race and statewide elections showed interesting results,” former Gov. L. Douglas Wilder (D) said of their survey, noting that neither candidate saw 50 percent support. “The increase in the undecided and those unable to commit for either is noteworthy,” he continued, adding the poll was taken prior to any debates between the two candidates. “How the candidates show the people what they propose dealing with the pandemic and its effects are obvious concerns,” he added. The survey, taken September 7-15, 2021, among 731 likely voters, has a margin of error of +/- 6.93 percent.
CASEY: During Thursday's debate, Youngkin campaign issued blizzard of questionable claims
The 14 press releases attacked Democrat Terry McAuliffe on abortion, economic growth, employment, crime and more. One claimed Republican Glenn Youngkin is the "most pro-vaccine candidate in the race."

McAuliffe, Youngkin clash over abortion, COVID in 1st debate

By now many folks know that in Grundy on Thursday evening, Republican Glenn Youngkin and Democrat Terry McAuliffe squared off in the first gubernatorial debate of the election season. Somewhat behind the scenes that day, another mini-drama unfolded, of which most people were probably unawre. That was a blizzard of McAuliffe-bashing press releases issued by the Youngkin campaign. Between 7 and 9 p.m. Thursday, Youngkin’s staff emailed 14 different anti-McAuliffe screeds on just about every issue imaginable. Those included abortion, vaccine mandates, crime, economic growth, employment and more. It was one rhetorical bomb after another, dropped (on average) at 8.5 minute intervals. The label “FACT” or FACT CHECK” appears in the subject line of all but one.

In 26 years watching Virginia politics, I can’t recall such a barrage. That rate’s enough to leave you wondering whether someone has spiked the Youngkin campaign water cooler with Adderall. (My inbox received zero pre- or post-debate salvos from the McAuliffe campaign.) And aside from that, at least some of Youngkin’s claims look like atrocious duds, unsupported by the “facts” they cite. We’ll delve into some of the most obvious misrepresentations below.

I queried the University of Virginia’s guru of politics, Larry Sabato, about that press-release storm. He chalked it up to social media’s increasing influence on modern politics. You can summarize that more or like this: A lie can now travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting its shoes on. “Before social media arrived on the scene, it was very difficult to do this kind of thing minute-by-minute. Now that social media is a central part of our lives, every campaign believes it must bring out every gun available, even if a tank is used to squash a small bug,” Sabato told me in an email. He said he didn’t evaluate the Youngkin press releases. But watching Twitter he witnessed their effects.

“It guarantees that [Youngkin’s] arguments are received and, in most cases, reported in some form. Their party base absorbs a lot of it through the campaign’s Twitter and Facebook feeds. It also has a galvanizing effect on the base and their own staff, communicating that McAuliffe will be able to ‘get away with’ nothing. To repeat myself, it also reinforces that this isn’t just a campaign, it is a crusade — war by other means.”
Lots of debunked claims by Youngkin here: https://roanoke.com/news/state-and-regi ... 86699.html

Here's the debate. Youngkin comes off very weak and inexperienced.

This story about NJ gov candidate Jack Ciattarelli highlights the rough road GOP election truthers and stop the stealers are going to have.
In Virginia gubernatorial election, Republican Glenn Youngkin may succeed where Jack Ciattarelli is failing in New Jersey
By Alan Steinberg | September 20, 2021, 8:13 am | in Edward Edwards

When Micah Rasmussen, Director of the Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics at Rider University, communicated the following tweet last Wednesday, the day after the California recall vote, it was essential for New Jersey political observers to take notice: “In a nationalized political environment, it is impossible not to look at the suburban Democratic blowout in California and not see dire warning signs for Jack Ciattarelli’s campaign in NJ. There is no sign they are swinging back.” Micah’s point is irrefutable. In blue states like California and New Jersey, a political media attack against a candidate or national cause for their Trumpist connections is a virtual guarantee of victory for the anti-Trump forces.

We saw that most graphically in the case of the California campaign to recall California Governor Gavin Newsom, which at the beginning had a substantial prospect of success. Once Newsom countered with a massive media anti-Trump thrust, the recall campaign was eviscerated, especially among suburban voters. In blue states, definitely including New Jersey, there are two primary reasons for the efficacy of any credible anti-Trump thrust. The first is the noxious racism and bigotry of Donald Trump and his MAGA supporters. The second is the increasing efforts of Trump forces to undermine faith in election integrity by making despicably false claims of stolen elections against their opponents.

Jack Ciattarelli participated in such a Trumpian effort to undermine faith in the 2020 presidential election integrity by his guest speaker appearance at a stop-the-steal Trumpian rally last November 28. He actually denied having any prior knowledge that the rally was a stop-the-steal event.

Supposedly, Youngkin thinks Biden won fairly and that the VA election will be fair. Incredible that saying an election will be fair could provide bonus points.

Youngkin breaks with Trump on whether Democrats will cheat in the Virginia governor's race
BY JULIA MANCHESTER

Virginia Republican gubernatorial nominee Glenn Youngkin broke with former President Trump on Thursday on whether he believes Democrats will cheat in the upcoming election.

"No, I think we're going to have a clean, fair election and I fully expect to win," Youngkin told moderator Susan Page at the first Virginia general election debate of the cycle.

Additionally, Youngkin said he did not believe there had been significant fraud in Virginia's elections. The question to Youngkin was a reference to comments Trump, who has endorsed Youngkin, made on "The John Fredericks Show" earlier this month. "You know how they cheat in elections. The Virginia governor's election - you better watch it," Trump told the conservative Virginia-based talk show host.

Yougkin's Democratic opponent, former Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D), has repeatedly sought to tie Youngkin to Trump, citing Trump's endorsement and his unfounded claims that the 2020 presidential election was rigged. McAuliffe has repeatedly pointed to Youngkin's "Election Integrity Task Force," which he launched in February prior to winning the Republican nomination for governor, as evidence Youngkin is aligned with Trump on the issue. Youngkin said the effort is designed to establish legal voting standards in election processes.

The next debate is slated to take place Sept. 28 at George Mason University.

Okey dokey, here's detail on the interruption. This will probably get more attention than the debate. Princess is running as the Liberation Party candidate. https://www.princessblanding.com/
During the final debate between Terry McAuliffe and Glenn Youngkin in the Virginia governor's race, Princess Blanding, a third-party candidate who was not invited to speak, interrupted proceedings saying that her exclusion was unfair and racist.

More from @PrinBlandingVA who stormed the debate, derailing it for several minutes and demand she have a spot on the stage. She’s particularly mad at Democrats and a system she characterizes as making people chose between the “lesser of two evils.”

FYI: Glenn Allen Youngkin is an American businessman who is the Republican nominee in the 2021 Virginia gubernatorial election. Prior to entering politics, he spent 25 years at the private-equity firm The Carlyle Group, rising to become its CEO. Wikipedia Born: December 9, 1966 (age 54 years)

He's against gay marriage, abortion, and denies his Trumpiness except when he's on RW media. He was caught
“Axios: If you were in Congress on January 6, would you have voted to certify the election?

“Glenn Youngkin: So one of the great things is, I’m not in Congress.”
Polls have shown a tight race about five weeks before Election Day, with early voting already underway. A Monmouth University survey released Monday afternoon gave McAuliffe a slight lead (48 percent to 43 percent) among registered voters. The Democrat’s margin ranged from three points to seven points, depending on various turnout scenarios.

The poll asked voters about their top issues and which candidate they trust to best handle them. It found Youngkin’s best issue is police and law enforcement (39 percent trust him versus 33 percent for McAuliffe), while McAuliffe’s best is the coronavirus pandemic (41 percent versus 38 percent for Youngkin).

Friend,

It has been a busy few months for the Lincoln Project and I wanted to share a few campaign updates on some of our critical work and my take on Virginia’s elections in just a few short weeks.

Virginia is close. Within the margin of error by most polls. Too close for comfort. The biggest reason is that Glenn Youngkin is skating by and successfully pretending that he isn’t a Trumpist. (He is.)

Youngkin has to walk a very difficult line, forcing him to lie to two separate groups of voters at once: he has to show independents in Northern Virginia that he's moderate (he is not); and he has to prove to the Trumpist voters in the rest of the state that he's fascist enough to pick up the mantle of Trump and earn their support.

So when you hear about a Youngkin rally where they say the Pledge of Allegiance to a flag carried at the January 6th riots, the picture begins to sharpen. You see what he is trying to do and the number of lies he has to tell. Two-faced does not begin to describe it.

Is he too extreme or not extreme enough? We think the answer is both. He’s trying to be all things to all people and that ain’t going to cut it in Virginia. He's too extreme for Virginia but he is not the second coming of Trump the mob wants him to be.

We’re calling him out on his lies. We're proving who Youngkin really is to Virginia voters right now with several hard-hitting ads like only we can make. The rest of the establishment can’t go where we can go or talk to the voters we can talk to. This is our task.

We keep talking about all the races we need to focus on next year to beat the Trumpist mob. But if we lose Virginia after it going for Biden by a significant margin last year, our task next year is nearly impossible. How did it get so close in a race Democrats should be handily winning?

The answer is the message. That's where we come in because we can say things the campaigns or the establishment wouldn’t dare. We are targeting Youngkin where it hurts and we can win this race and beat back Trumpism in Virginia for the next half-decade. Or longer, if we win by enough. We have roughly 300,000 target voters who went Trump in '16 and flipped to Biden in '20 in Virginia that need to hear from us.

Please help the Lincoln Project beat Glenn Youngkin in Virginia right now. We are running ads telling voters the truth in a way only we can do. Your support will likely mean the difference between victory or defeat. Which in turn will mean the difference between victory or defeat in 2022.

Losing Virginia means a Trumpist is in charge of Presidential certification in another 2024 swing state. The mob still believes 2020 was stolen. They’re pledging allegiance to January 6th. Can you imagine what one of their mouthpieces will do for 2024?

The only way we are going to defeat Trumpism in 2024 is to stamp it out soundly at the ballot box every chance we get. We are in hand-to-hand combat at the margins right now. And of course, Virginia is not the only front where we are fighting. Ask Greg Abbott, Doug Ducey, and Ron DeSantis. They are only the first.

In addition to the Lincoln Project’s electoral work, the other massive campaign we are waging is against those who are funding the Trumpist mob. Right now we are holding to account one of the behemoths in corporate America, AT&T. Ever wonder how OAN, one of the pre-eminent mouthpieces for the fascist mob, got its funding?

You guessed it: AT&T. A recent report exposed that 90% of OAN’s revenue came from a contract with AT&T-owned television platform DirecTV. OAN's founder said that without that contract, OAN's value would be "zero."

With your help, we have been taking on the conservative echo chamber -- calling out FOX, Tucker Carlson and the rest of them for killing Americans with vaccine lies -- and AT&T has been funding one of the leading sources of vaccine disinformation and seditionist propaganda right under our noses.

AT&T has spent millions propping up seditionists and supporting right-wing drivel like OAN. We will continue calling for Americans who care about democracy to #HangUpOnATT. We have to hit them in the only place they really understand: their pocketbooks.

It may seem like the work we are taking on is like trying to fight a Hydra with many different heads. This is true. But that's why we are continuing to build a coalition unlike anything American politics has ever seen. A true pro-democracy coalition.

Reed, Rick and the team will have a few other updates on our work for you shortly. More corporate responsibility campaigns are coming. In a few short weeks our focus will shift from Virginia to the next battlefields for 2022.

In the meantime, we all have our roles to play. You have made all of this possible.

Please help us win Virginia and keep holding AT&T's feet to the fire now. We can't do it without you.

Thank you for keeping us in the fight.

Orlylicious and hive mind, what do you think? Donate directly to McAuliffe, or to The Lincoln Project? From what I hear Terry could use some hard-hitting ads. On the other hand, I don't want my name on a Republican donor list, ever. Does The Lincoln Project sell the names of their donors?

Missed seeing your question. Here's what Lincoln Project is doing in VA. There's an advantage to being outside. This is actual creative running in VA. Understand about LP and issues, but it's all hands on deck time. We split the donation betweet Terry & LP on this one, we need to bring VA home.

Virginia AG presses GOP senator for proof of claims of fraud in statewide elections

Virginia Attorney General Mark R. Herring’s office Thursday pressed a surrogate of Republican gubernatorial nominee Glenn Youngkin to share evidence supporting her claims that Democrats are trying to “steal” Tuesday’s election — allegations Herring (D), who is running for reelection, called a ploy to undermine voters’ confidence in the outcome before the results are in.

State Sen. Amanda F. Chase (R-Chesterfield), who has been working to rally the state’s conservative Trump-aligned voter base on behalf of Youngkin, recently told conservative talk radio host John Fredericks that she has shared evidence of a Democratic voting-fraud scheme with the Youngkin campaign.
:snippity:
....“They’re moving, in cyberland, they are switching inactive voters to active voters, all in the same week, it’s undetectable. I know what they’re doing, John, and now the Youngkin campaign has all that information and they’re not going to get by on us this year, I’m telling you.”

Youngkin said Thursday that he knew nothing about Chase’s allegations and believes that the election will be fair.

The polls close at 7 p.m., which is ... wait for it ... half an hour before the beginning of the next Fogbow Virtual Meetup.

Which means we will get some results during the show, AND one of the regulars on our Meetups is a resident (and election volunteer) in the great state Commonwealth of Virginia - none other than Dr. Conspiracy.

So we're gonna have a party.

Vice News -

Lincoln Project Posed as Charlottesville White Supremacists at GOP Event
Five people dressed like the white supremacists who caused the violent “Unite the Right” riots in Charlottesville four years ago showed up outside of Virginia Republican gubernatorial nominee Glenn Youngkin’s event in the town on Friday.

But instead of actual “Unite the Right” supporters, it turns out that it was a half-baked stunt from the Lincoln Project, a group of Republicans who oppose President Trump—and Youngkin.

The tiki torch-wielding stunt occurred just days before Youngkin’s hotly contested election against Democratic former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe—and the same week the trial began for the white supremacists who have been charged with conspiring to ignite the riot.

The Lincoln Project acknowledged they were behind the stunt after VICE News identified one of the people dressed in the photo in front of Youngkin’s campaign bus as a low-level Democratic operative who has recently been working for Democratic sting operator Lauren Windsor’s The Undercurrent. Her group has repeatedly gone undercover as conservative activists to goad politicians into saying what’s really on their mind—and has also held events alongside the Lincoln Project in recent days.

:snippity:

McAuliffe’s campaign condemned the actions.

“What happened today is disgusting and distasteful and we condemn it in the strongest terms. Those involved should immediately apologize,” Terry for Virginia Campaign Manager Chris Bolling told VICE News in a statement.

With just days to go before the election in a neck-and-neck race, this insensitive stunt appears to have backfired.

I am thoroughly disgusted at this false flag shenanigan on the part of the Lincoln Project. Talk about stupid!
