We love a UK Channel 4 show called FOUR IN A BED. It's been on there forever, it's a 30-minute strip show (5 episodes per group) about B&Bs. Four sets of owners visit each other's places and rate them. On the 5th show, they meet up to "settle some scores" and reveal the payments of how much each place was worth. It's a wonderful travelogue as well, they have places in Scotland, Wales, England and all over. Some of the places are gorgeous and some of the places are horrible. Each day, the hosts take the others on a sightseeing day, visiting cathedrals, museums, beaches and lots more. Have learned a lot about Blackpool, looks like lots of fun. There are "glamping" places as well, we've never tried that. The owners are a very funny mix of regular people. The underscoring is really cute too. Love all the accents!

Some caveats about watching it: Outside the UK, you'll need a VPN set to UK to watch Channel 4 shows. We use NordVPN, it's been really reliable and the price for up to 6 devices is really low. They even use Rakuten (formerly Ebates) so you get cash back. We renewed over the holidays and it was less than $70 for 2 years. Channel 4 has a HUGE library of content including many US shows. They have 1500 Shows (not episodes) on channel4.com. You also create an account for Channel4.com, you can use any UK address, we used a West End theatre address and it took it with no problem.

Now, this is geeky. :P From the birther days, I use tons of protection on the laptop (which is hooked into a 50" monitor). On Chrome, I use Ghostery, NoScript and AdBlock Plus. What I discovered, due to a quirk in their coding, is that with all three extensions on, it SKIPS the commercials. Saves a huge amount of time. Feel free to ask if you need help with how to make it work.

Here's a link to one of the episodes, there are pages and pages of episodes, start with any Monday. https://www.channel4.com/programmes/fou ... /69658-081

Here's a Channel 4 on YouTube clip reel of the best "Payment Day" arguments, some B&B owners game play and underpay to try and win. Hadn't seen this reel but had seen the episodes. "The Best INSULTS, Underpayments And ARGUMENTS From Four In A Bed! | All 4"

Breakfast Mishaps: The Ultimate BREAKFAST MISHAPS! | Four in a Bed | All 4

A few are on YouTube, from 2014 this is Four in a Bed Series 5: Day 1 - The Avenue Hotel

It's an easy-to-watch, entertaining show with lots of fun looks at the UK with its history, architecture and small business owners. There's so much on Channel4.com (we watched lots of the Queen Elizabeth programming) so wanted to explain how to do it if anybody is interested.

Note that some browsers, noteably Opera and Brave have built-in FREE VPN (though Opera has a paid option, I don't know what that offers beyond the free version). Brave even has a built in Tor browser (which I find more irritating than useful).

Of course, I don't know whether you can use those browsers on your TV, but they do work on the PC, quite well.

I watched The Banshees of Inisherin. It is gorgeously shot and brilliantly acted. But despite billing as a comedy in award season, it is unrelentingly bleak and depressing. Permanently dispels the notion that life in rural Ireland is idyllic.

Very bleak and very depressing.

It reminded me of In Bruges. Same director or producer and same stars. I enjoyed that more, though.

Vengeance on Prime. (movie) Primarily a comedy but a bit of suspense thrown in.
From director B. J. Novak, Vengeance is a darkly comic thriller about a podcaster who travels from New York City to West Texas to investigate the death of a girl.

The newest doctors outfit has been revealed. Of course, he gets a cool one. The one female doctor gets dressed like a 4-year-old infatuated with mork and Mindy but all the guys, well except for number six and possibly number five, got really cool outfits.

I watched The Rachel Divide, a documentary film about Rachel Dolezal, the white woman who claimed that she “identified as black.”

Most of it is interviews of her and her kids. It appears the documentary filmmaker got access fairly early on.

Her argument is that race is a social construct so she’s pretty much free to identify however she chooses. The Black community totally rejected that, saying that because of her privilege she hasn’t personally experienced a lifetime of institutional racism informed by 400 years of oppression.

It was particularly interesting to see how one of her kids’ attitude changed as time went on. He appeared to get a little more frustrated with her as he got older.

I identify as the foreperson of a galactic grand jury. Sadly, this does not entitle me to ... well, anything but scorn, derision, and becoming a tragic social outcast.

But enough about my day job ...

You can identify as a Yakima Native American, but that doesn't give you anything in common with the community.

I just finished watching "The Traitors" which was surprisingly good! If you're interested, I have a full review up at: my blog. This show I found to just be fun, and I really hope they do a 2nd season :) Alan Cummings is a delight as the host.

I also have one up for Pressure Cooker. It was interesting because it changes up the skilled competition program format a bit by not having any celebrity hosts or bringing in guest judges (with a couple of exceptions.)

"The White Lotus" on HBO Max

To my fellow male sapians, DO NOT WATCH THIS. I'm serious.

A female relative called me on Saturday to pimp it (2 seasons, 13 ep in total). I asked if it involved a lot of sex and she said it did not.(um, early episode season one is a character concerned about swolen balls -- on display). Chick-flick.

Anyway, it was HBO Max and Prime permitted a 7-day trial.

I watched the whole series. Then wrote my relative today that she is not to recommend film to me unless a male co-signs off on it.

Netflix is running Korean Jock Porn  It's called Physical 100 and will be very popular. The 100 bodies are gorgeous. The guys and girls all have plaster molds of their torsos which they have to destroy when they are eliminated. Damn these folks are beautiful and of many ages, what a waste seeing them destroy those torsos. Some of the contestants say they feel like its Squid Game. The first four episodes are live and the remaining five will be released two each week through the end of the month.

Thought of Foggy with his kick-ass workouts while watching it. :boxing:

Physical 100 aired the first two episodes of its series on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at 3:00 am ET (the USA). The show is the first Korean survival series to air on Netflix and will feature 100 contestants who will compete against each other to be the last individual standing and be crowned the champion. The series is set to test contestants to their limits in a total of 10 episodes.

Season 1 of Physical 100 was announced during Netflix’s 2022 TUDUM Korea Carnival. The contestants belong to the cream categories of Korea and include Olympic gymnasts, wrestlers, athletes as well as popular fitness trainers, YouTubers, dancers, and TV personalities, among several others.

While the format was introduced to them in the season premiere, it was the cash prize that shook them to their core and motivated them to give it their all. Directed by Jang Ho-gi, the Korean reality series features 100 contestants competing irrespective of their gender, age, and race. The one standing until the end will receive a cash prize of 300 million KRW.

Still not good enough to make me watch reality TV, though. :fingerwag:

Moving on from jock porn to food porn......

I watched Great British Baking Show: The Professionals. Take original GBBS and multiply by 1000. The chefs are supernaturally talented. Streaming on Netflix.

Episode 3 of The Last of Us is my favorite episode of any tv show, ever. I’m not going to spoil the story. I’ll just say how much I appreciate the lack of sloppy sentimentality in this tough, tender vignette. If it doesn’t win all the Emmys I’ll eat a MAGA hat.

I’m not a gamer and have nothing at all to say about the HBO show’s deviations from the game plot except…jeez, people, get a grip! It’s just a game!

Okay, I am going to take your recommend without a male co-signer. But if this turns out to be have a lot sappy chick-flick scenes, I am not going to be happy.

I've watched the first 3 episodes. Yes, very fine indeed-- good recommend. I guessed how plot of the two main characters of Ep 3 would wrap up. I'm not going to give away any spoilers.
Now I have to decide if I want to pay $16/mo or wait until the episodes through mid-March and signup to binge the remaining 7 episodes of season 1 at once.

Is that the movie with the former child star who "sees dead people" movie but grown up and gets a job teaching Sex Ed to middle schoolers? Hiliarious! And gosh he got chubby.
