"offshore facilities shut" cause perhaps the shore facilities are still out of service? Like storage tanks spill pads need to be emptied in a safe manner? Like the pipelines need to be checked before they can transport oil, and least but not last the refinieries need to be checked for damage and taken back into service?

I don’t get the silence from the Pastors. Surely all the destruction is due to the residents’ sinful ways. How will they know to repent if the Pastors don’t call them out?

Probably because the lord isn't known for his pin-point accuracy in aiming natural disasters....which always seem to hit the bible belt first...

I may have mentioned before, but I've never understood why those in the Bible Belt, who seem to get more than their shares of natural disasters, always see it as a test and never as punishment.

This is a situation where citizens can get proactive. There are still dumps, yes? And people with pickups and other trucks? Organize a Neighborhood Trash Watch to take your block’s trash to the dump.
It’s community re-building, at the basic level.

We aren’t completely helpless.

The article doesn't match the Tweet. The article talks about oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico and not refineries. I think most of the refineries are back in production. The Phillips 66 refinery at Belle Chase, LA sustained some flooding damage so it may still be down.
