Here we go again (again again, again). Down the rabbit hole.

I see that line in there again about the AG prosecuting 500 cases of voter fraud and investigating 400 (up from 300) more.

Must have been fraud. Both McCain and Romney won Texas over Obama by a larger margin than Trump won. Fraud.

So is this "proven fiscal conservative" willing to spend millions of Texas taxpayer dollars on this forensic audit? Or just a measly amount, expecting donations from Trump supporters to pay for the rest? :confuzzled:

And... It's on. Secretary of State released this:
Texas Secretary of State's Office Announces Full Forensic Audit of 2020 General Election in Four Texas Counties

AUSTIN - Under existing Texas laws, the Secretary of State has the authority to conduct a full and comprehensive forensic audit of any election and has already begun the process in Texas’ two largest Democrat counties and two largest Republican counties—Dallas, Harris, Tarrant, and Collin—for the 2020 election. We anticipate the Legislature will provide funds for this purpose.

The office certainly did, but seeing as Texas doesn't have a SoS at present, I wonder who's behind it?

Thank you for that. I guess Abbott learned a thing from his master: If you can't get someone confirmed (I understand the previous SoS's nomination wasn't taken up by the state senate), just let someone else do their job and don't bother with the whole nomination and confirmation thing.. :bored:

nbcdfw wrote:The first phase of the audit, according to the Secretary of State's Office, includes testing the accuracy of voting machines, checking cybersecurity and looking for ineligible voters who cast ballots in 2020. Officials said that part of the audit was already underway.

The second phase involves reviewing ballots, lists of registered voters, ballot chain of custody, signatures and much more from the 2020 election.

The state said it would not hire any external groups to run the audit, which was done in an audit of the Arizona election. That audit found that President Joe Biden won the state, as he had in the initial vote tally.

Not related to the audit, but worth noting...

Trump Won the County in a Landslide. His Supporters Still Hounded the Elections Administrator Until She Resigned.
An elections administrator in North Texas submitted her resignation Friday, following a monthslong effort by residents and officials loyal to former President Donald Trump to force her out of office.

Michele Carew, who had overseen scores of elections during her 14-year career, had found herself transformed into the public face of an electoral system that many in the heavily Republican Hood County had come to mistrust, which ProPublica and The Texas Tribune covered earlier this month.

Her critics sought to abolish her position and give her duties to an elected county clerk who has used social media to promote baseless allegations of widespread election fraud.
:snippity:
Critics accused Carew of harboring a secret liberal agenda and of violating a decades-old elections law, despite assurances from the Texas secretary of state that she was complying with Texas election rules.

In his eyes, the decision by a hardcore Repub state to not fraudit the 2020 election works to Trump's advantage. He desperately wants to cast doubt on every 2020 ballot.

If frauditors can poison a state like TX, then the 2020 election was "fraudulent". Thus you can't trust any vote in any state. Thus we need a new election.

You're the expert but in my laywoman 's brain, I saw it as trump believing his minions would do anything he told them to do, *prove* his voters were being overridden by some crazy algorithm de jour. I think he believed it was a slam dunk to get TX to cooperate so Gov Abbott could say their audit proved trump won Texas by a million more votes than was officially certified, which would prove he won all 50 states. PA has a D gov and AZ has a "RINO" gov.

But then the audit didn't happen.

Wow! What a surprise!
Trump demanded an audit of election results in Texas—a state he won decisively.

Now, a state-financed audit in four major counties has turned up…pretty much nothing.

The secretary of state chose New Year's Eve to disclose this news.

I know Der Trumpenfürhr is just making noises but if wants have one so badly let him pay for it. I would think the TX gov't be more than a bit offended by that.
