This is my shocked face. :bored:
Which is why the colonoscopy story she tells is so non-credible. I guess publishers don't employ fact checkers any more?

Library obtained Stephanie's audiobook, downloaded it but didn't start listening yet. Tbh, put a lot of them on to fall asleep to. :P

Hey, for a good listen (or read), check out Michael Bender of WSJ's book "Frankly, We Did Win This Election: The Inside Story of How Trump Lost". There's a lot in there that hadn't heard reported before. One of the most interesting, he gets into the election litigation fails in detail.
THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!

Michael C. Bender, senior White House reporter for the Wall Street Journal, presents a deeply reported account of the 2020 presidential campaign that details how Donald J. Trump became the first incumbent in three decades to lose reelection—and the only one whose defeat culminated in a violent insurrection.

Beginning with President Trump’s first impeachment and ending with his second, FRANKLY, WE DID WIN THIS ELECTION chronicles the inside-the-room deliberations between Trump and his campaign team as they opened 2020 with a sleek political operation built to harness a surge of momentum from a bullish economy, a unified Republican Party, and a string of domestic and foreign policy successes—only to watch everything unravel when fortunes suddenly turned.

With first-rate sourcing cultivated from five years of covering Trump in the White House and both of his campaigns, Bender brings readers inside the Oval Office, aboard Air Force One, and into the front row of the movement’s signature mega-rallies for the story of an epic election-year convergence of COVID, economic collapse, and civil rights upheaval—and an unorthodox president’s attempt to battle it all.

Fresh interviews with Trump, key campaign advisers, and senior administration officials are paired with an exclusive collection of internal campaign memos, emails, and text messages for scores of never-before-reported details about the campaign.

FRANKLY, WE DID WIN THIS ELECTION is the inside story of how Trump lost, and the definitive account of his final year in office that draws a straight line from the president’s repeated insistence that he would never lose to the deadly storming of the U.S. Capitol that imperiled one of his most loyal lieutenants—his own vice president.

Looks like Michael Wolff's new book deals with epstein amongst other topics.
It comes out in 3 days.

It looks like there was communication with Bannon and Epstein during the 2016 campaign about a worry that Epstein would talk and bring out information about trump.

Thanks for pointing out libby. I didn't know this existed before. I had been using my one credit from audible a month to listen to new books on my commute. I was able to get David Garrow's Rising Star off libby. What a long listen it is over 51 hours and it goes into so much more than just Obama's rise. It talks about chicago politics etc.

Happy you saw it! Overdrive/Libby is great, there's also Kanopy for movies and Hoopla for video and audio content. With Audible, great service, but didn't need to hear most audiobooks more than once so it was a waste. With Libby, you get 2 weeks but you can renew so you have as much time as you want and it's all free. You can also have like 15 books checked out at one time. The other services are excellent too, we've seen terrific foreign films, Great Courses & documentaries on Kanopy. They are curated really well, the kids that program it seem to love what they are doing. Hoopla has a massive amount of content but it's harder to search. For those that want to check it out, just go to those sites (kanopy.com etc) and enter your library card info. If you don't have a library card, almost all have websites and you can sign up for a card digitally. Other than having to write down the library card number (some make you use that number vs an email address), it's easy and really amazing free service.

The key to these online services - OverDrive, Kanopy, etc. - is to see what's available from your local library. Different libraries offer different options. My library - Hennepin County, which includes Minneapolis and its suburbs - has a ton of stuff available through OverDrive, including ebooks, audio books, videos, and magazines. What the library system can afford determines how many titles are available and how long you can check them out for. My library also offers Freegal, a music resource from Sony. You can actually download a limited number of songs per week for your very own. I've downloaded dozens of The Piano Guys songs. My library's subscription to Freegal now includes (it didn't used to) up to 8 hours of free streaming from Freegal per day.

I somehow missed that you had posted this. Troo fact: My younger brother is a manager with Broward County Libraries. Also Troo Fact: Somehow, he majored in math and then did his master's degree in Library Science and became a librarian, while I majored in history and became a professional database analyst, earning my subsequent master's degree in Operations & Project Management and then joining the State Department as a jack-of-trades IT specialist in the Foreign Service; so we joke that somewhere along the way, we switched careers.

And the truth shall ever come uppermost,
And justice shall be done.

When Mark Meadows took control of the Trump White House in March of 2020, the nation was in turmoil. A deadly coronavirus had arrived from Wuhan, China, and brought the rhythm of daily life under President Trump—defined by a soaring stock market, sinking unemployment rates, and a renewed sense of pride in being an American—to a grinding halt. Our streets were empty. Our hospitals were full. Millions of Americans were scared, lonely, and unemployed, all while the global economy teetered on the edge of collapse. One wrong move by President Trump and his team could have ushered in years, even decades, of irreparable harm.In this frank, candid account of his ten months in the White House, Mark Meadows—known simply as “The Chief” around the West Wing—tells the harrowing story of how he and a close team of loyal advisors helped President Trump bring the country back from the brink of catastrophe. In a style that is accessible, suspenseful, and often humorous, Meadows pulls back the curtain on the West Wing as it was run by President Trump, fighting the false narrative of the Fake News with the hard, unvarnished truth. This is the definitive book about the final year of President Trump’s first term, told by the only man (other than President Trump himself) who was there for every minute of it.

A review fluff piece of the book on Goodreads. Sounds like she's a fan..

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/4 ... iew_page=1
Mark Meadows, our great Chief of Staff during some very exciting White House years, has written a new book entitled The Chief’s Chief. It is available for pre-order now, and doing really well. If you want to learn about politics, truth, our great administration, and exciting achievements that took place in government, pre-order your copy now. Remember, there has never been an administration like ours. We did things that no other administration even thought they could do. The Chief’s Chief would make an incredible Christmas present, and with United States supply lines totally dead, and with thousands of ships having no way of unloading because of incompetent leadership, you will have no other thing you can buy anyway. Seriously, it’s a fantastic book, and Mark Meadows and his wonderful wife Debbie are great people. Order here.

Mark Meadows is a wussie weenie. Follow the link. Look at that face and remember this incident whenever he makes you mad.
Mark Meadows and the Victim Card
Accused of a racist act, the congressman threw a fit.

President Trump’s former lawyer and fixer, Michael Cohen, testified before Congress with evidence that the president had committed campaign finance violations and is of terrible moral character. But it turns out the real victim wasn’t our democracy.

It was Mark Meadows, a Republican who represents North Carolina’s 11th Congressional District.

Mr. Meadows somehow managed to turn a hearing about whether the president broke the law into a minutes-long temper tantrum. He whined that it was wrong for Representative Rashida Tlaib, Democrat of Michigan, to say that Mr. Meadows’s decision to invite a black woman, Lynne Patton, a Department of Housing and Urban Development official who attended the hearing in her personal capacity, as a prop to show that Mr. Trump couldn’t possibly be racist, was itself a racist act.

Earlier in the hearing, to rebut Mr. Cohen’s charge that the president is racist, Mr. Meadows asked Ms. Patton to stand. Without letting her speak for herself, Mr. Meadows recalled her saying, “There is no way she would work for an individual who is racist.”
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/28/opin ... tlaib.html

And he freaking cried. Just look at that weakling. (Crying doesn’t make him weak. Being trump’s errand boy makes him weak.)

And a fuc*ing racist birther of course. From that article:
It was a performance that he’s clearly hoping will win him one of next year’s Oscars. He defended his record on race, so we should cast aside that time in 2012 when he embraced the racist birtherism theory to his supporters by saying that “2012 is the time we’re going to send Mr. Obama back home to Kenya or wherever it is.”
And Roll Call with video:
North Carolina: Candidate Appears to Flirt With Birtherism
Congressional candidate Mark Meadows made comments about President Barack Obama and Kenya in recent weeks.
By Jonathan Miller Posted June 26, 2012 at 4:13pm

GOP Congressional candidate Mark Meadows, likely to be the GOP nominee in the heavily Republican 11th district of North Carolina, appears to have flirted with birtherism on at least two occasions in recent weeks. “2012 is the time we’re going to send Mr. Obama home to Kenya or wherever it is,” Meadows said to applause at a June 9 tea party rally. “We’re going to do it!” At an appearance at a tea party forum on June 12, Meadows said, “we” will send Obama “back home to Kenya or wherever it is.”

In an interview with Roll Call today, Meadows clarified his remarks. “I think it’s a non-issue,” he said. “Obviously bringing it back is probably a poor choice of words on my part more than anything else. I believe he’s an American citizen and I believe, in my district, he is going to lose overwhelmingly.” Both are true. Obama was born in Hawaii and is, therefore, a natural-born citizen of the United States and constitutionally eligible to be president. Obama’s father was from Kenya.

[scribd id=90176195 key=key-h2irhgpkgk6lyjrofyn mode=list]

“The question I have, if you’re sent to Congress, will you pursue some kind of investigation to find out whether or not this, uh, guy is really a citizen and entitled to those authorities?” a man at the June 12 forum asked. Vance Patterson, Meadows’ competitor in the Republican primary runoff, gave a long answer to the question. Then Meadows took the mic. He said “yes” and then, with a smirk, moved the microphone away to laughter. “You know, I see it as, if we do our job, from a grass-roots standpoint, we won’t have to worry about it,” he said. “You know what? We’ll send him back home to Kenya or wherever it is. We’ll send him back home.”

Watch the video of that here — the question begins at 1:08:45 and Meadows’ answer begins at 1:11:25.

Watch the video of the June 9 event here — his remarks begin at 4:00. [Looks like Mark had this conveniently scrubbed:]

Another North Carolina GOP congressional candidate, Richard Hudson, also flirted with birtherism earlier this year. If Meadows, as expected, wins the GOP primary runoff on July 17. He’ll face Hayden Rogers (D), the former chief of staff to retiring Rep. Heath Shuler (D-N.C.). The district is heavily Republican, and Roll Call rates the race as Likely Republican.

Kayleigh McEnany describes her path to the White House podium, bringing the reader behind the scenes in the world’s most powerful building and illuminating how faith got her through.

If you would have told me that in the year 2020 I would stand at the White House podium and communicate with the American people as COVID-19 ravaged the globe and violent protests beset the nation, I would have told you that you were crazy. But Jesus Christ had this very plan for my life.

From White House intern to White House press secretary, from production assistant to national television host, from Catholic all-girls high school to Harvard Law School, God has guided my path through uncharted territory. In For Such a Time as This, I will chronicle my journey to the White House and offer never-before-told anecdotes about what really happened within the Trump administration. You will experience some of the most high stakes moments in the West Wing right alongside me as I reveal how faith got me through.

Ben, that's so cool about your brother being a manager of Broward County Libraries. Please tell him thanks, they are doing a great job over there! Have made a few recommendations about audiobooks and they have shown up which is terrific. Never used the library pre-digital, but with all the choices now it's been fantastic.
