Started listening to Steph Grisham's book, her voice is really annoying. And the self-aggrandizement is nauseating. Might not make it too far. Because who cares, we all know what he did and she's a fu*king birther.

Ya, Trump "thinks" he could stop the Hulk with his pinkie finger. Least surprising thing anyone has posted all day.

He doesn't believe that the rioters did anything wrong, in the first place, so how could he stop them from doing anything bad?

If he HAD led his followers to the Capitol on Jan. 6, as many of the insurrectionists thought he was going to do, the Secret Service would have dragged him out of there, by force, if necessary, when the stuff started to hit the fan. OTOH, the video of TFG being literally forced into "The Beast", against his will would have made interesting viewing. The SS takes the security of the President very, very seriously. There would have been eight or ten agents that picked him up bodily and shoved him, none too gently, into his limo.

When it hit the fan, he would have been the first one out the door. The SS would have had a hard time catching up with him as be beat feet out of there.

Of course, he would never have had the courage to go anyway.

Jon Karl's Front Row at the Trump Show in 2020 was really good. Larry Sabato says Betrayal is really good too.

Larry Sabato @LarrySabato Oct 24
Pre-order Jon Karl’s “Betrayal”. You’ll want to read this one. Stunning new information about Trump’s outrageous attempts to stay in office. Bigger and broader than you thought. Attn: #January6thCommittee

I am looking forward to that one. I have digital copy on hold at Overdrive, but I'm on a long wait list unless King County Library orders more copies (they often do). I may have to succumb and buy it...

Thanks Kendra, put in a hold for the audiobook.

Now Peter Navarro's trash is coming out. Nope. Not even for free. Thanks Broward County Libary for not buying this garbage:
EXCLUSIVE: Trump aide Peter Navarro says Pence was the 'Brutus' who caused the 'final betrayal' by certifying Biden's win and the President and Bannon were the last ones who wanted Jan. 6 violence because it undermined bid to overturn election
Navarro served as Director of Trade and Manufacturing Policy in Trump White House
He helped craft tariffs and advised Trump on his anti-China stance
His new memoir details fierce debate over Trump's election overturn effort
He says he and Steve Bannon concocted 'Green Bay Sweep' plan
Idea was to force a delay by having lawmakers object to votes in six states
VP Pence would then send back votes to the states, causing further delay
Move came after states certified Joe Biden's electoral college win
Navarro charges Pence with 'betrayal' of Trump for refusing to go along
Trump knew 'how it was going to work'
His new book is called In Trump Time, A Journal of America's Plague Year
By GEOFF EARLE, DEPUTY U.S. POLITICAL EDITOR FOR DAILYMAIL.COM
PUBLISHED: 15:41 EDT, 1 November 2021 | UPDATED: 16:56 EDT, 1 November 2021

Mike Pence is the 'Brutus' figure in an internecine 'war' among advisors over former President Donald Trump's election overturn effort, writes former top trade advisor Peter Navarro in his new memoir. Navarro, who helped design Trump's China tariffs, writes of battling factions inside the White House and the Trump campaign between 'Swamp creatures' who wanted to concede defeat and those who rallied behind a plan to rely on Republican support in the House to try to delay the counting of electoral votes. Trump was an 'American Caesar,' Navarro told DialyMail.com in an interview, while Pence, 'his erstwhile most loyal person in the White House winds up sticking him in the back.'

Former top White House trade official Peter Navarro describes a 'war' among White House factions over whether to contest the 2020 election. Marcus Junius Brutus helped lead the assassination of Caesar in the Roman Senate, and his name is associated with betrayal. Navarro's forthcoming book, In Trump Time, A Journal of America's Plague Year, calls out 'DC Legal Swampists' and 'unforgivably incompetent' Trump campaign officials – while smacking down figures on the inside who wanted to stress Trump's legislative accomplishments and move on following election defeat. The book comes out Tuesday.

He believes Trump's campaign was 'caught with its legal pants down' by failing to staff up with legal eagles. One top firm, Jones Day, wouldn't join the legal effort to contest the election, in what Navarro writes was a 'big F-U' from firm partner and former White House counsel Don McGahn. That left the operation relying on fringe lawyers like 'Kraken' lawyer Sidney Powell. Navarro calls her 'highly counterproductive.' Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani and former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik, who both were at the Willard Hotel 'war room' Jan. 5th, 'did the best they could under very bad circumstances,' says Navarro.

I'm no expert but it seems to me if all the "top" firms run away from you screaming and you're only left with the "fringe," then you're the one with the problem.

ATLANTA (AP) — Donald Trump was threatening Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger when he asked him to help “find” enough votes to overturn his loss in Georgia to Democratic President Joe Biden, Raffensperger writes in a new book.

The book, “Integrity Counts,” was released Tuesday. In it, Raffensperger depicts a man who defied pressure from Trump to alter election results, but also reveals a public official settling political scores as he seeks to survive a hostile Republican primary environment and win reelection in 2022.

An engineer who grew wealthy before running for office, Raffensperger recounts in his book the struggle in Georgia that followed Biden’s narrow victory, including death threats texted to his wife, an encounter with men who he says may have been staking out his suburban Atlanta home, and being escorted out of the Georgia capitol on Jan. 6 as a handful of right-wing protesters entered the building on the same day many more protesters stormed the U.S. Capitol.

The book climaxes with the phone call, which was recorded and then given to multiple news organizations. Raffensperger — known as a conservative Republican before Trump targeted him — writes that he perceived Trump as threatening him multiple times during the phone call.

“I felt then — and still believe today — that this was a threat,” Raffensperger writes. “Others obviously thought so, too, because some of Trump’s more radical followers have responded as if it was their duty to carry out this threat.”

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is investigating potential attempts to improperly influence Georgia’s 2020 election. Raffensperger said in an interview with The Associated Press that Willis’ investigators have talked to some employees in his office, but that he hasn’t been interviewed.

“They’ve talked to some of our folks here. We sent all the documents and she can now buy the book online,” Raffensperger said of Willis.

So Brad is his own breed of asshole. I've never seen an interview with him where he doesn't take a cheap shot at any Democrat he can think of.

Curiously, in a campaign of odd figures—Corey Lewandowski, the feral campaign manager; Paul Manafort, the corrupt lobbyist who replaced Lewandowski; Tom Barrack, the real estate mogul with his many shadowy partners in the Middle East and the candidate’s main confidant; Michael Cohen, the designated Trump bagman; Steve Bannon, the self-appointed populist hero who replaced Manafort—Rudy, old, angry, sleeping in meetings, drinking too much, and, perhaps most peculiarly, a moderate Republican among the virulent new right wing, seemed like one of the oddest, raising red flags even for the other Trump people who themselves should have raised red flags.

RE: the new Michael Wolff book. Boring boring boring  Chapters after chapters about people I either haven't heard of and/or don't care about (why does Ronan Farrow get a chapter? Al Gore?). Skimming a lot, library only IMHO. I enjoyed the last two books, but this is just name dropping gossip.

Same Kendra. With Broward Library, it seems if you recommend the book, you're first on the list. Well done, looking forward to Betrayal.

Slightly OT, but if it seems cheap to request a loan vs. purchasing, I have some experience with my library and smaller authors. Example, I can buy one copy of a favorite author I want to support, but KCLS (King county Library) rarely orders just one copy, usually 5+ depending on demand. So, one purchase request = more purchases than me buying just one copy.

Back to the book, early going, but my God - be afraid, be very afraid.

I really liked Woodward's last book, Peril. Despite reading all the teasers, there was still plenty that was new to me. I skipped past most of the Biden chapters and was able to start/finish during a 2-1/2 hour plane ride. I just downloaded Betrayedal onto the kindle for my trip next month.

I have to get back to Peril. For some reason, I got sidetracked for a few days and then forgot to pick it back up :bag:

I have a slower work day, I may sneak a few chapters of Jonathan Karl's book in.

:snippity:
Meadows, then a North Carolina congressman and close Republican ally to Trump, writes in his new book that the president was "extremely put off" by Kavanaugh's comments about beer.

"We thought that his nomination would be a slam dunk. But when the heat started, that calm façade melted," Meadows writes of Kavanaugh in his book.

Trump was also "disappointed" that Kavanaugh appeared "almost apologetic" during the hearings, which the president viewed as being "weak," Meadows writes.

"If there is one thing for which President Trump has absolutely no tolerance or patience, it's weakness," Meadows writes.

Amid the controversy, Trump also briefly considered dropping Kavanaugh as his Supreme Court pick, according to Meadows. But the president ultimately decided to stick by Kavanaugh, who was confirmed by the Senate in October.

Pssst, don't tell anyone, but on Goodreads, where one can make their own shelves, I gave her book a propaganda barbie, five pinocchios + liar liar pants on fire shelves. Hopefully I won't get it deleted by staff for being mean to the author 8-)
