Very cool way to take down a tower. I always assumed when they removed a tower it just fell over sideways.

Yeah. It's pretty cool when a good crew does it. There are three sets of guys. You reduce tension on one side (cut side), increase it on the other two, gather everyone to the cut side, and then put the bandsaw to the anchor rods. If you do it right, the sudden release pulls towards the tension breaking the tower sending it to the ground. If you do it wrong, it's still standing.

That's so COOOOOOOL!!!! I can't wait for Hubby to 'splain how come the sections broke as they did. It is probably something simple like tension release is a force something mass something something gravity something. It falls down and goes BOOM!

It's just basic physics. It's like shooting a bow and arrow.

Yes, but the arrow doesn't break.

The tower is the bow.

A bow with a dozen strings on three axes.

My local AZ library has a similar program. You can check out admission to museums, zoos, botanical gardens, etc. Super cool!

Turns out that Scott Adams was not targeted. But he’s pretending that he was.

Yesterday the high in the Twin Cities was 92°. On top of that it was very humid.

Today? It won't hit 70°, the air is dry, and there's a strong breeze from the northwest.

Perfect!

Almost.

Now that I can turn off the A/C and have the windows open, people start using their fire pits in the evenings. Nothing like having your house smell like it's in the middle of a forest fire. Dang.

Many years ago now, my spouse and I heard that a Great Grey Owl had been spotted in a park, Bridle Trails State Park, located in Kirkland, WA. We went looking for it, and had given up after several hours of searching. As we were walking back to our car, I caught a glimpse of something out of the corner of my eye, which didn't seem quite right. I turned back to look at whatever had caught my eye, and there it was, sitting on a branch stub blending in with the tree.

Got to enjoy watching it for about a minute, and then left so as not to disturb it any further.
