Watching the sheets of rain pass through, seeing plants and bushes bending to the ground, listening to the wind gusts and obsessively checking on my friends in NOLA. The bad shit is on the way to us, but at least this time it's in the daylight.

Annnnnd, my huge pot of hidden ginger just toppled over. We didn't move it to the porch because the 2 of us can barely lift it, much less get it up the steps.

BB is safe and sound in Memphis.

According to our last communication, a few minutes ago, she has no idea yet about the condition of her property except that according to the news there is no power, water nor 911 service.

Water shooting out of Brooklyn storm sewers. Newark Airport baggage handling flooded.

Northeast isn't getting the winds but is getting Ida's rain.

More NJ tornado damage.

Worst has yet to reach us but it is on it's way.

Getting thunder and lightning now. Worst of the rain may go north of us. Very windy.

I may have been over optimistic about the heavy rain missing us.

But no tornado warnings for over an hour.

Time to go to bed.

I never thought of it on Wednesday as this was going on, but had we not cancelled our trip to Iceland, we would have been returning that day through the Newark airport. Or maybe not?
