It's hard to see them go, but sometimes it's harder to see them suffering. Best of luck to him that all goes well.

Yeah, I just don't want him to suffer. But apparently this procedure with the net is standard, and if he keeps taking blood thinners maybe the clots will dissolve or something in a few months. He's in the procedure now, and I'll learn more later.

Just to make sure I didn't miss it if Letitia texted me, I took my phone into class.

OK, he's out of the procedure with a few new things in his body that he didn't have this morning, so that's nice. He's doing well and they're talking about kicking his ass out mañana, which is great news because if he was in really bad shape it would kind of force them to keep him around a spell, and nobody wants that. If you ain't dyin', they're gonna kick your ass out of the hospital as soon as they can figure out how to do it safely.

But if they can kick out a 93 year old dood the day after a surgical procedure, I don't care how minor or how successful the result, that means the old dood ain't dyin' this week after all. Maybe not this year. Maybe not next year. I better not get too far ahead of myself.

Yeah, if they're kicking him out tomorrow, I'm thrilled. I thought he might be on death's door this morning. :towel:

My husband has had three of those sieve things for about 10 years now. No issues at all.

My brother has had them for over 20 years. Same thing; no problem.

Well, thank you, ladies. That's good news, too also.

EXCEPT, of course, that he's 93 already. I'm fairly certain he won't need them for 20 years. :?

I hate feeling helpless, but here I am.

But this is apparently not a serious issue, long term. He's been fairly stable lately and working on his strength. He uses the indoor pool at his retirement home and sort of does a half hour of exercise in the water. He needs his rolleter to get around, but using it gives him access to any part of his condo. All those things are important to keep him functioning at a stable level, and I'd be very sad if he lost any of his remaining mobility or activities.

My dad's only brother died when he was 80. At the time (my dad was 4 years younger), my uncle had lived longer than any other male in our family line, which has been traced back about six generations. Nobody - none of the men - had ever lived to 80, until my uncle did it, and he died a few months later.

But my dad is 93 and still sharp as a tack. He just signed up for 4 college courses online. Who knows? Maybe start a new career. Every day he's alive he wants to learn new and exciting things. Ol' Wifehorn says "The thing about your dad is he's just such an interesting man." He follows everything that happens in this great land of ours.

But I fear I don't have much longer to enjoy his company. :(

Even back in my cross-dressing days (this was late 1953), I was working on my stinkeye ...
