Yeah, two weeks from today is the actual surgery, the other stuff is about getting ready.

I still can't get my head around the fact that on a Saturday they're going to do some 3D imaging of my bones, and then they'll use those images to make the parts they're gonna put in my body on the following Tuesday.

That's crazy, if you think about it. I'm better off not thinking about it. :?

Can you re-use that for some recreational 3D printing of your own in preparation of next haloween :?:

Years ago I had some experimental dental work done. I had a deep pocket and my dentist was afraid I’d loose that tooth. He sent me to a periodontist* who put powdered bovine bone, antibiotics and some kind of secret sauce in the pocket to regrow tissue. It worked! So well in fact that they had to do another surgery to remove the gauze the skin had grown over.

* I was reading Joan Didion’s White Album at the time. One story was about a periodontist who taught at Loma Linda U. He had murdered his wife and gotten away with it. I looked at my doc’s diploma there on the wall in front of me. Loma Linda U. Same name as the murderer, same graduating class. I nearly got up and left, I was white knuckled by the time they called me in. But whew it wasn’t him!!

So did he notice anything? Did he say anything?

My shoulder specialist is named Speer. I had been to his office a lot of visits, but I did eventually ask him, "Do you know, nobody on your staff knows who Albert Speer was?"

He was writing notes, but he slowly turned his head and said, "Well, I know who he was," and he said he'd done a high school research project to see if he could find out whether he was related to Hitler''s architect (inconclusive).

Once I knew it was the wrong periodontist from Loma Linda, I'd have been pestering him for info on the murderer one.

I told his assistant while she was prepping me. She said “You look nervous, dear. You should have asked for a Valium before, now it’s too late.” She laughed when I told her but not dismissively, so she’d probably heard it before.

The doctor pretended he’d never heard of him.

So the reason I'm getting my right shoulder done first is because that way, the worst is over early. It's going to be a lot worse having only my left arm -- which isn't even healed a little bit -- as my only functioning arm. By the time I'm ready to get my left arm done, I'll be okay, and my right arm will be functioning well.

As you can imagine, I won't be doing a lot of typing. And I can't do voice dictation without a lot of typing to correct the mess I made. :oopsy: I'll probably do a lot of reading. Thinking. Fulminating. Fermenting. Stuff like that.

Of course, it wasn't enough to make me get out of bed at effectively 4:30 a.m. this morning. I also have to get up early tomorrow, because I have my big Pre-Admission Testing appointment (no, PAT doesn't mean point after touchdown this time) at 8 in the morning. Which, because I'm not fully adjusted to the change in the clocks, means effectively 7 a.m. sharp, and I really need to get there a little early.

They done stole an hour from us honest, hardworking morning people, who actually know what to do with an hour of daylight, and gave it to those shiftless, good-for-nothing night people, who don't even know what to do with it anyway. It's going to be daylight from 6 until 7 in the evening now. Who cares? Nobody, that's who. The night people are already watching the Tee Vee anyway. They aren't going to do anything with the extra hour of daylight. They just sit there.

Oh man, excellent rant, 9.95 out of 10!

I see absolutely no reason to wake up before 8:30 in the morning.

You go Foggy.

I'm getting cortisone in my left shoulder on Wednesday for bursitis. Right shoulder in a couple of weeks. My right hip gets lubricating gel inserted as soon as I can get the appointment organized. I hope that fixes me for a while so I can go swim with the Whale Sharks at the end of April.

May your shoulder op go smoothly and your rehab is easy.

Didn't you see the news that Orly Taitz is now doing shoulder surgery in the back room of Appealing Dental? She could save you a lot of money... shoulder and a cleaning would certainly be discounted. Maybe she'd throw in a free root canal (even if you don't need one).

Dr. Taitz Appealing Dentistry
29839 Santa Margarita Pkwy Ste 100, Rancho Santa Margarita CA, 92688

On her https://drtaitz.com/ site, she trumpets:

Dr. Orly Taitz is one of the top 10 dentists in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA according to RateMDs.com
https://www.ratemds.com/best-doctors/ca ... a/dentist/

Orly is indeed #6 but...

Clearly de minimus and think of the fun conversations you could have with her! She could deeply explain Bournel and her enlarged zibits, exactly what you'd want to be discussing before shoulder surgery. It's not too late... quick flight to Rancho Santa Margarita and you could even ask for the Dental Chair O' Love. Yes? No? Maybe? Should I call her and have her give you a call back for a consultation?

Today is just the PAT. I know it will include an EKG, and an A1C, and godonlyknows what else. Instructions.

Surgery is a week from mañana, and it's outpatient surgery. But I appreciate the good wishes. ❤️

Here's a factoid:

My dad had me arrested twice before I graduated from high school.

Once for "unauthorized use of a motor vehicle". I stole their other car while they were out to dinner and a movie. They didn't like the movie so they came home early. :blackeye:

The other one was for "out of parental control". I'm still hard to control, you can ask ol' Wifehorn. :oopsy:

Then he and my mom took my four siblings to Europe for a month, but he called my probation officer and got my probation extended for the summer.

We get along okay now.

Yeah, my dad is generally a peaceful guy, non-confrontational, never eager to get in an argument with a lot of yelling and harsh words.
I didn't always give him the opportunity to avoid that stuff. :boxing:

My momma taught me to fight, and I was never gonna back down to him, nor he to me, obviously. So we had our share of yelling at each other, and that was during the years when we were in contact. There were also years when he didn't know what state I lived in.

We always loved each other, but we didn't get along well, until the past few years. I think our last big argument was in 2010. He started it.

And we can never be best friends. I admire him, I respect him, but ... we just have too much history. On the bright side, he became best friends with my wife, which was the best possible alternative. For any of you who have real trouble with their mom or dad, that's a good option - have your husband or wife become their best friend in the world.

I didn't plan that, but it's working for me. :towel:

And so now a brief summary of the Pre-Admission Testing appointment, which took longer than it should have, but I survived it. I haven't got blood test results yet. There's a chance something could still happen to cancel the surgery. But I'm otherwise approved and prepared, so I'm gonna keep pretending it's going to happen. :towel:

Summary: I'm now prepared with new instructions.

1. I'm supposed to increase my protein intake to 100 grams/day. No worries, I can do that.

2. I'm supposed to do some breathing exercises. Slow, giant lungfuls of air, and so forth.

3. I'm supposed to do as much aerobic exercise as possible. I will do Musical Asskicking mañana, Thursday, and Sunday. And walk four miles every day.

4. I have a list of what meds/supps I take and when to stop taking them.

5. A bunch of stuff about bathing personal care that I'm not sharing. :fingerwag:

It's all happening.

I did OK on the cognitive test. Not as good as Trump, of course, but OK. :blackeye:
