I understand that these immigrants are "illegals", eg made a border crossing illegally, but were picked up by CBP, processed and awaiting status determinatkon. As such they are "legal", eg they are no longer flying under the radar of immigration authorities.

My understanding is that they did not cross the border illegally, but are asylum seekers, who were duly processed and let into the country pending status hearings.

It true, how does Texas think that they have the right to load them into busses and ship them to other states? It seems to me that states have no legal standing in this matter.

Is this why I read that some Congress critter is asking the DOJ to investigate these events as possible kidnappings?

They've been talking about this highway for years. And there is already a highway that goes from Canada to Laredo. It's called US 83. Ok, it stops in Minot, but you can pick up US 52 easily.

If you want Interstates, then it's I-29 and pick up I-35 in KC. Takes you right into Laredo.
