On Sunday Cruz was busy watching CNN where Jake Tapper was leading a discussion about wayward Republican Liz Cheney and her prospects politically in the future. The question asked by Tapper was "Is there a lane for Liz Cheney in New Hampshire in 2024?"

It was during that segment that inspiration struck Cruz and he was compelled to express his comedic genius in a tweet answering Tapper's question. "Yes," Cruz quipped, "It’s called the Democratic primary."

Ted knows there is a legitimate question as to his natural born-ness so he's going to run to invite the birther lawsuits, his will be heard all the way to SCOTUS, and then retroactively (or somethinig) Obama too will be held ineligible and jailed and hanged and stuff.

But Lloyd Bentsen ran for re-election in 1988 while also running for vice president. (Was re-elected, wasn't the vice president.) So I presume Texas law allows a candidate to seek more than one office.

The Cruzer has, as I recall, thrown his hat in the ring for the last several elections only to drop out when lack of interest manifests itself. As things are, I can't imagine the GOP really backing him. He might be a bit of a spoiler in some of the primaries but that I think is about the sum total of his viability at this point. I don't know if anyone even takes him seriously anymore.
