Even in the primary, where he only has to convince Republicans, he has no chance. He is considered a traitor by the Trump base, which seems to hold a majority among registered Republicans. He is dead to them. Besides, he has the personality of a cinder block.
To be fair, I once made an entire wall of book-and-media shelving out of cinderblocks and some two-by-fours, and that shelving held the things which, behind my (now-ex-)wife and my grandmother, gave me the most joy out of life.

What I'm trying to say is that some cinderblocks have both more charm and more utility than Michael Richard Pence. And those cinderblocks would have my vote in the GOP Primary in '24, were I a registrered Republican.

Bannon turns himself in. I got a very brief glance at the gentleman holding the Coup Plotter sign. Can't be positive, but it does look like the gentleman with the Santa beard who was always at the Manafort trials and others.

OK, the arraignment will not be held today, per Judge Meriweather, to avoid running afoul of any issues with rules. Says Bannon will appear before Judge Nichols on Nov 18 at 11AM ET.

Pretrial services rec is general supervision; Bannon must notify the court for any travel outside of this district.

Bannon's passport has already been taken by authorities. He will have to check in weekly by phone ahead and no further restrictions are requested by govt at this time. When asked if he understands these stipulations, Bannon says, I did your honor

Some clarity from a court spox: "Each count of contempt of Congress carries a minimum of 30 days and a maximum of one year in jail, as well as a fine of $100 to $100,000. The government today clarified the maximum potential fine for each of the two charges; it is $100,000."

but but

The former President clearly can't assert executive privilege over everything in the universe. Only the executive (they are arguing about the former executive) can assert the privilege, not Bannon or his counsel.

I'd think that's what the instant case is going to hinge on, but I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

Hold the fucker with no bail and see how long he tries to drag it out...

He is a significant flight risk, he has millions of dollars and a network of support outside the country.

Clerked for Clarence Thomas, Federalist Society member. Wikipedia lists his three major cases as Dominion and Squidney, where he ruled for Dominion, TikTok and Trump, where he ruled for TIkTok, and Trump and the Ways and Means Committee (gimme taxes), where he ruled for Trump.

I have found being a Trump appointee as a judge is not a great measure of how they will rule. They may rule on some things in ways that you would expect conservatives to rule, but not necessarily rule because of Trump. In honesty, expecting him to rule against what you want solely because he's a Trump appointee is the same thing Klayman does (though lately, that has expanded to any judge).

I have found conservative judges generally tougher on law and order things (and they have fewer scruples about stomping on a party who plays games than ones appointed by democratic presidents). Hard to say on this one.

Ditto.

What Trump is asking would give past presidents presidential powers forever.

Ok, they arrested a moron. What does that prove? That they can vaguely care and snag a shitstain every once in a while. Doesn't change anything except he doesn't have direct contact with other shitstains in his circlejerkdom.

They're gonna haul Bannon in front of a useless congress to say nothing for x number of hours?
