WASHINGTON — Most Americans don't know Jeffrey Clark — the environmental lawyer whom former President Donald Trump wanted to take over the Justice Department to aid his effort to overturn the 2020 election.

But the House Jan. 6 committee hopes its Thursday hearing might change that.

Clark took a pretty standard path for a conservative lawyer: Harvard University, Georgetown Law, clerk for Ronald Reagan-appointed federal appeals Judge Danny Julian Boggs and a partnership at the law firm Kirkland & Ellis, with a stint in the Justice Department's environmental division during George W. Bush’s administration. His unusually long Justice Department biography even included, for some reason, details about his elementary school.
:snippity:
Clark has continued to be a presence in MAGA world. He has an account with a few hundred followers on Truth Social, Trump’s social media platform, where his Trump-mimicking handle is @RealJeffClark.

He has said the Jan. 6 committee is “power drunk and unconstitutional,” and he has shared stories from the conspiracy website Gateway Pundit, including a story about the debunked propaganda movie “2000 Mules.” He has written for the conspiracy website Revolver News about what he described as efforts to “Kill All the Trump Lawyers — By Canceling Them.” He's making appearances on Steve Bannon's "War Room" podcast. And he's trying to raise money, telling would-be donors that he has "been targeted for cancellation by the hyper-partisan January 6 Committee, the 'mainstream' media, and a collection of leftist law professors and supposed 'Republicans' who are conveniently never-Trumpers."

I guess we can add attempted bribery to the long list of charges against the Trump WH.

Reminder: When Ruby Freeman and her family began getting armed intruders forcing their way into THEIR FUCKING HOME to execute "citizen arrests," there was no security provided for them. I'm not saying the FBI ignored the situation though. Oh no. The FBI advised them that as the President was targeting them, they should flee and go into hiding. Somewhere. Anywhere. Up to them though. Just a warning.

The lawyer for filmmaker Alex Holder, Russell Smith, tells
@AnnieGrayerCNN
that Holder cooperated with panel because “there were inconsistencies” in previous statements from Trump and his family when comparing Holder’s footage with previous statements Trump and his family made

Rushed around all morning so I'd be ready for what I thought was a 1:00 hearing. Got back about 1:20 hoping I hadn't missed too much only to find it starts at 2:30 today.

I'm going to take that as a good omen.

Rep. Zoe Lofgren to CNN on the new Jan. 6 documentary footage: "We're full of surprises, aren't we? I'll just say that we will roll out the relevant portions in an orderly way ... We want to make sure that we're fairly presenting what we have found."
Interesting question about this documentary asked on CNN was who financed this whole thing. Things are going fast and furious, but I believe it was reported that the filmmaker had control over content, and that somehow this came about via a Trump staffer, believe the name I caught was Jason Greenblatt.

That said, don't hold it as fact, as I said things are moving fast today, especially for this :oldlady:

Actor/director Sean Penn is sitting next to Officer Fanone at the hearing. I wonder if he is making a movie about Jan. 6.

today's presentation is from Kinzinger. Rosen, Donoghue and Engel are from the DOJ. So far, they're covering already public information.

"Jeff Clark was proposing that Rosen be replaced by...Jeff Clark."

trump acknowledged that Rosen wouldn't do what he wanted, but another person would, so why shouldn't he go that way?

(this is Herschmann(?) video interview, but I don't remember some of these clips.)

Donoghue to Clark, you're an environmental lawyer. Go back to your office and we'll call you when there's an oil spill.

Before leaving, Barr told trump at least 3x there was no evidence of significant fraud.

Rosen: (asked if trump continued to harass DOJ after being told there was no evidence of fraud) Yes.
"between dec 23 and jan 3, the pres either called or met with me virtually every day, with 1-2 exceptions as Xmas Day, ...the president asked Donoghue meet with him on Dec 15.

What did prez raise with you ?

Rosen:
"The DOJ didn't do enough to raise election fraud."

He raised having a special counsel for election fraud.

Meet with Guiliani

Would DOJ file lawsuit in SCOTUS?

Hold a press conference.

We did not think those were "appropriate" for the DOJ.

Donoghue: Most of 12/15 convo released to Michigan "The Allied Security Group" issued a report that the voting machine in one county had a 68% error rate. He wanted this report used publicly to prove the election was fraudulent.

Engel: I have never had any reason to doubt AG Barr's conclusion (of no fraud)

Kinzinger is taking over. trump replaced Barr for not saying election was fraudulent. When that guy refused to steal the election for him, he tried to replace him with Clark.

showing a clip of Maria Bartasomething screaming about the DOJ not investigating.

Gohmert: Barr will get a big notation in history after the rise and fall of the United States.
Biggs: Barr needs to let us know immediately what he is doing.
Gosar: How pathetic are the courts?
Gaetz: On Jan 6, I'm joining with .....to object to the stolen election.
Jordan: We will have this vote on the sixth of Jan.
Mo Brooks; Taking names and kicking ass.
