I wish Fani Willis could keep Judge McBurney on the case.

Fortunately, I'd already been infected, having re-discovered that specific song through the Playing for Change version of it about three months ago and putting in heavy rotation on a playlist and using it to introduce about a dozen people to PFC over the past two months -- someone who served with me at my first post and met up with me at the end of my home leave, a couple of cousins, and a few folks at my new post here.

So I'd basically either built up an immunity or a lack of care for the disease, depending on how you look at it.

But, blatant plug: PlayingForChange.com or the Playing For Change library on YouTube... You won't regret it. Their version of U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" is powerful enough that most reasonably empathetic people weep at it.

Disclaimer: I am a subscribing supporter of PFC but not otherwise affiliated.
But the sunshine aye shall light the sky,
As round and round we run;
And the truth shall ever come uppermost,
And justice shall be done.

Just heard on CNN. At least one grand jury is meeting today, and come Monday the main street in front of the courthouse will be closed. :smoking:

I'll believe it when I see it. I was all in for Fani Willis, but at this point she needs to shut up or put up. And frankly, she should have shut up right from the beginning and just focus on the work. If she has the goods, then bring a case. But to promise indictments when you don't even have a grand jury seated is just plain reckless. And she did that. I understand she has a grand jury now, but she was teasing indictments even before she had a grand jury that was capable of voting on indictment or not. Make an announcement AFTER you have a grand jury indictment. Otherwise, she needs to please shut up.
There's a lot of things that need to change. One specifically? Police brutality.

Ya, I much prefer the "Keep silent then slap with incitements" approach.

Georgia seems to have a strange grand jury system, which I would not pretend to understand.

I would prefer the keep quiet approach as well, however, if she keeps quiet, folks would scream she isn't doing anything. It is a lose-lose sort of thing.

Kemp will sign a pardon 5 seconds after a guilty verdict comes back...

Jack Smith took incredible abuse for keeping his mouth shut and look where we are now. Let's wait and see where Fani Willis is a week or two from now.

Reports are GJ testimony starts tomorrow, streets along the courthouse will be closed and we'll be on indictment watch soon. The Sheriff says any indictees won't get special treatments, mugshots for one, mugshots for all :waiting:

Jack is a pretty amazing fellow. He always keeps his composure even in the face of being called "deranged". He is probably a great poker player. He has no "tells". :boxing:

They announced on Friday that the street would be closed today, August 7 through the 18th...
FULTON COUNTY, Ga. - Authorities plan to close a number of roads around the Fulton County Courthouse ahead of a possible indictment of former President Donald Trump and others as part of a grand jury investigation into alleged interference in Georgia's 2020 election.

The Fulton County Sheriff says that Pryor Street will be closed between Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Mitchell Road starting Monday, Aug. 7.

The road will still be open to pedestrians, but there will be no public parking in the area.

Those closures will remain in effect until Aug. 18.

Just googled this. In Georgia, the governor does not hold that power...
In Georgia, the Governor, sometimes Trump loyalist Brian Kemp, does not have the power to issue pardons. That power resides within the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles, a five-member board of appointees by the Governor.
Of course, that might be a distinction without a difference...

CNN reporting that it will take the DA two days to present her case to grand jury, but not clear when those two days will be. Do they hear from witnesses first?

If I followed it correctly, there are two grand juries seated, but only one of them are hearing the trump matter. One of those juries meets Monday and Tuesday, the other meets Thursday and Friday.
