Eric Greitens :thor: continues to make Missourians proud.

His ex-wife, who apparently isn't down with the whole tying up hair dressers in her basement thing, has filed to transfer custody jurisdiction to Texas.

Headline is her affidavit alleges abuse during the marriage. More detail at link.

https://www.news4jax.com/news/politics/ ... -of-abuse/
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens, now a leading Republican Senate candidate, was physically abusive and demonstrated such “unstable and coercive behavior” that steps were taken to limit his access to firearms, according to new allegations from his ex-wife revealed in court records on Monday.

The sworn affidavit from Sheena Greitens is part of an ongoing child custody dispute in Missouri. A public affairs professor at the University of Texas, she sought divorce from Eric Greitens after a sex scandal which led to his resignation as governor in June 2018. She's now asking the court to move the custody case to Austin in part to spare her children from renewed public attention as Eric Greitens tries to mount a political comeback.

Eric Greitens’ campaign did not immediately comment Monday. An attorney for Greitens couldn’t be reached for comment. The allegations could complicate his bid to emerge from Missouri's Aug. 2 primary as the GOP nominee and potentially jeopardize his party's chance to hold onto a key Senate seat in the general election.

In the affidavit, Sheena Greitens casts her ex-husband as someone who threatened to use his political connections and influence in order to destroy her reputation to win custody of the children.
I took a look at the docket sheet. Texas court says the Missouri court needs to hold a hearing to decide who should decide jurisdiction.

I worked in a used book store for a few years. One day I came in and there were two books by Greitens on the cart ready to be shelved. I'm usually a no-censorship kinda gal but those books went straight into my bag and when I got home they went straight into my trash can, because fuck that guy.

Color me surprised. A guy who made national headlines because he assaulted a reporter when he didn't like a question the guy asked had a history of domestic abuse. Who'd a thunk it?

USA Today: Supreme Court declines appeal over law licenses from St. Louis couple who waved guns at 2020 protest:
Mark and Patricia McCloskey drew national attention for walking onto their front yard with guns during a 2020 protest of the police killing of George Floyd.

The Supreme Court on Monday declined to hear an appeal from a St. Louis couple who could face indefinite suspension of their law licenses after they waved guns at a racial justice protest outside their home in 2020.

* * *

Mark McCloskey pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge and Patricia McCloskey pleaded guilty to misdemeanor harassment. Missouri Gov. Michael Parson pardoned the McCloskeys in 2021, but the state office responsible for investigating allegations of misconduct by lawyers sought to suspend their law licenses.

The Supreme Court of Missouri in February agreed to suspend the licenses indefinitely but stayed the suspensions and placed the two lawyers on probation for a year. Conditions of the probation included that the McCloskeys provide quarterly reports to a probation monitor – including whether they are charged with additional crimes – and 100 hours of free legal services.

In their appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, the McCloskeys argued that the state court's ruling violated their Second Amendment rights and their rights to due process because they were "exercising lawful rights to bear arms in defense of their person, family, and home."

Mark McCloskey is among several Republican candidates running to fill the seat held by retiring GOP Sen. Roy Blunt.

Infamous pro-gun Senate candidate McCloskey just got busted for faking famous rapper's support

Bob Brigham
July 28, 2022

Republican U.S. Senate candidate seemed to imply he has the support of a 1990s rapper in a campaign advertisement.

"Vanilla Ice wants his fans to know that he is not affiliated with long shot Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mark McCloskey after a political ad featuring the artist’s name and photograph was promoted by the campaign on Thursday," the Kansas City Star reported Thursday. "In a statement Thursday evening, managers for Vanilla Ice said the rapper did not give approval for his show to be coupled with the political ad."

The ad announces "Team McCloskey" in Greene County on July 31.

"Featuring Vanilla Ice and Ying Yang Twins" the ad said.

"The campaign ad appeared to suggest, at least, that McCloskey and Vanilla Ice would be at the fair in Springfield, Missouri, on the same day. But McCloskey is scheduled to make his appearance on Sunday, two days after the show," the newspaper reported.

McCloskey, and attorney, said his campaign was "merely saying that we’re going to be there at a time when they’re going to be there" even though they were not there at the same time.

Would have gotten more votes if he changed his first name to Eric.

He has no longer a separate thread here, so for the record:

Judge: Gun-waving lawyer shouldn't get guns or money back

Fri, December 30, 2022 at 6:44 PM GMT+1

ST. LOUIS (AP) — A Missouri judge has ruled that a pardon from the governor doesn't mean the St. Louis lawyer and his wife who gained national attention for waving guns at racial injustice protesters in 2020 should get back the weapons they surrendered and fines they paid after guilty pleas last year.

Mark McCloskey sued last year to have returned a Colt AR-15 rifle and a Bryco .380-caliber pistol that he and his wife, Patricia McCloskey, surrendered when they pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the confrontation with protesters. McCloskey said he was entitled to the guns and remitted fines because Republican Gov. Mike Parson pardoned him and his wife weeks after their guilty pleas.

On Wednesday, Circuit Judge Joan Moriarty ruled that the pardon had no bearing on the plea agreement, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

“Plaintiff and his wife are required to follow through with their end of the bargain,” she wrote.

Mark McCloskey said he plans to appeal.
