I...haven't heard this argument against legalizing marijuana before.

All the places I've been to around here are either cash only or they run a card in a scammy ATM type transaction which ends up dumping a bunch of fees on you.
Mastercard moves to ban cannabis purchases on its debit cards

Mastercard (MA.N) has told financial institutions to stop allowing marijuana transactions on its debit cards, dealing a blow to an industry already on the fringes of the financial system in the United States.

Most banks in the country do not service cannabis companies as marijuana remains illegal at the federal level despite several states legalizing its medicinal and recreational use.

"As we were made aware of this matter, we quickly investigated it. In accordance with our policies, we instructed the financial institutions that offer payment services to cannabis merchants and connects them to Mastercard to terminate the activity," a spokesperson for the company said on Wednesday.

"The federal government considers cannabis sales illegal, so these purchases are not allowed on our systems," the spokesperson added.

I'm not sure I follow this completely. MC is not going to permit DEBIT purchases. Does that mean CREDIT purchases were already disallowed?

Why don't customers go to a traditional ATM and use their card to get cash for their purchase?

Sorry if I am obtuse but even some might think I am a pothead and I'd know all these rules, I am not.

I never seen a dispensary that took credit cards, dunno. Also, al the dispensaries I've gone to have an ATM for this exact reason.

Two hits of a marijuana bong means going to the corner of the couch and watching Ren and Stimpy on the teevee thingy.

Weed became legal in Ohio today. The Rs attempt to stop it failed. They may still fuck around the edges of the voter approved initiative, but they won't repeal it.

Florida dug in their heels big-time. But finally they had to bite the bullet. I heard Missouri did the same thing but, in the end, they got it going. Patience. (Lotsa patience)

Ohio pretty regularly manages to put roadblocks up when the people have spoken.

I'm just gonna post this little tidbit from a friend of mine in West Hollywood today. While walking his elderly dog, he stopped & tried to help out an older gentleman (maybe my age, maybe older)

That's about as agro as one can get on the devil's weed.

(for those wondering, my friend, Michael, is in his late 40's, and his little old doggie, Dominique, was inherited from his late mother)

Just all y'all be glad I know not to try it. Accidentally ate special brownies at a party in college (I asked if there were nuts in the brownies but couldn't hear the inflection when the said "no nuts...") and should have been hospitalized and had my stomach pumped (I fortunately blacked out so I don't remember much, but it was rather graphic). Since then, I occasionally pass through a cloud of second hand weed and go into convulsions. Dr. Vicklund does take CBD oil for chronic pain, so that is very strictly segregated just in case. No :smoking: here!
