Why do I have some weird feeling that the "six witches" were ladies who resisted and said no to his advances?
I recently re-upped my 3-year certification for the Episcopal Church's two-level "Keeping God's People Safe" program so my radar may be a bit more attuned to possible signs, which is a good justification for retaking this on a regular basis.

How many of his audience/church actually believe what he says? Scary - living in a time warp? Compulsory detention in a mental health institution seems appropriate.

Texas Lt. Gov.’s Bungle Imperils Thousands of Republican Mail-in Votes

Last month, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick sent a mass mailing to Texas voters in his own party that included envelopes meant for mail-in voting applications addressed to the Texas Secretary of State. Those applications, however, are required to be returned not to the secretary but to local elections offices. Thousands of registered Texas Republicans responded to Patrick’s missives and sent their applications, so the state is now in the midst of sorting out the misdirected forms, which has resulted in delays that may exclude some Republican voters from an upcoming March primary altogether. Asked by the Texas Tribune about the move, Patrick’s campaign defended its “three easy steps” mailers, citing unfounded Republican suspicion of local Democratic elections officers. A spokesman said, “The decision to direct return mail to the Secretary of State, someone who is trusted and respected, gave voters an added layer of comfort.” Texas signed a new measure into law last year meant to restrict access to early and mail-in voting.

Read more at: https://www.star-telegram.com/opinion/b ... rylink=cpyPatrick’s campaign sent older Republican voters across the state unsolicited vote-by-mail applications and told them to mail in their votes and “crush Democrats.” That’s now a felony crime for county workers, but legal for elected officials. One catch: The applications were marked with the wrong return address.
The applications were addressed to the secretary of state’s office in Austin instead of county election offices. Yet the secretary of state’s webpage said specifically that applications sent there “will be rejected.”
That’s been fixed the Texas way: The secretary of state’s office, led by John B. Scott of Fort Worth, has now deleted that line from the webpage. The applications were forwarded to each county, but Friday was the deadline for corrections.
Republican corruption in Texas.

Re: The Stupid Thread
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said Friday he wants to end tenure for all new hires at public universities, saying the practice allows professors to embrace “critical race theory.”
At a state Capitol press conference, Patrick said he plans to introduce legislation next session to also designate the teaching of critical race theory as “good cause” for tenure revocation. The announcements were prompted by the Faculty Council at the University of Texas at Austin, which on Monday approved a non-binding resolution affirming professors’ academic freedom to teach about race and gender theory.
“We are not going to allow a handful of professors who do not represent the entire group to teach and indoctrinate students with critical race theory,” said Patrick, a conservative Republican, adding that it would be a “top issue” for the 2023 legislative session that begins next January.
Critical race theory is an academic movement-turned-buzzword among Republicans who dispute the existence of white privilege and systemic racism in society. It has become a flashpoint in Texas politics, with the Republican-led Legislature last year approving a measure that would ban the subject from being taught in K-12 schools.

I had worried that former acting Director of National Intelligence, former Ambassador to Germany, Richard Grenell might have trouble adjusting to life. He’s keeping busy though.

Ya know someone did a study last year and found that, around the globe, the name of the person in every community most likely to complain is Louise or Ann or Jane. Karen isn’t even in the top 10.
San Francisco, of all places, has written legislation about frivolous complaints and named it the CAREN Act. Karen has dropped 200 places in a year as a favorite baby name. All because of this stupid meme.

Re: The Stupid Thread
Ol' Charlie. He is one of those rare individuals who never played much football (if at all). He worked his way up through the ranks to become an assistant football coach in the pros--I'm thinking Kansas City. He then wormed his way into the head coaching job at Notre Dame around 2004. He is a portly fellow with a penchant for bloviating. With the exception of nearly upsetting SC in South Bend in '04, and a season or two later when they started out undefeated then folded like a cheap tent, his teams were very ordinary. I believe he wound up either fired or his contract unrenewed around 2009. He returned to the professional assistant coaching ranks a year or two later. I suspect that he is retired by now, but could be wrong.raison de arizona wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 12:09 am This is apparently some popular retired NFL sportsball coach?

I guess Notre Dame attracts only the most conservative/reactionary of employees like Charlie Weis, Lou Holtz, and Amy Baby Barrett.

I dunno what that tweet means either, but I want to put it on record that I grew up in Tucson Arizona, which was ringed by ICBM missile bases and was in the first strike target list for Soviet ICBMs.
My neighbors had their car packed to the gunnels in preparation for a fast getaway during the Cuban missile crisis. My dad po.inted out to him that the roads will be jammed, you wont have long enough warnin to get far enough into Mexico, another 1st strike target is Ft Huachuca which is the SAC no.2 comms hub after Ft Collins and its between you and Mexico, and no we arent going to look after your dog.
