Supported, just for the ease of locating the threads. But we also have a few "behaving good".

I guess there needs to be a top topic "Human behaviour - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly"

Yanno, there are actually 12 threads with "behaving" in the title.

So, umm ... yeah. But I am still the poor ol' rooster, so it has to be Earthlings behaving or sumpin'. Lemme work on it.

Off Topic
I disagree to some extent. There have been a number of locally notable Republicans coming out in AZ and recording commercials against Kari Lake specifically, and also against any other candidates generally who are election deniers. I call that Republicans Behaving, uh, Not Badly.

This was written by the guy who Falwell Jr.'s wife bonked while he watched. The much younger pool boy who got millions of dollars of corporate funds from Liberty to "invest" in his "business ventures."

The coauthor is Mark Ebner, who is an all around hoot. He has written some amusing snark about Scientology, which should come naturally to him because he started out his career at the long-ago Spy magazine, which was brilliant.

Because Ebner is on the cover, this could easily be not just a quick attempt to cash in on people who deserve to have their dirty laundry aired as widely as possible, but it might very well be a brilliantly fun read.

Wasn't sure where to put this. I had not been aware that Michael Cohen was involved in blackmailing Falwell into endorsing Donald Trump for president in 2016. That information comes fairly early into this approx 25 minute video about the Falwell's tryst with the Giancarlo.

There's a lot of things that need to change. One specifically? Police brutality.

Paul Blair Is Teaching Pastors That the Federal Welfare System Violates ‘God’s Design’
:snippity:
Liberty Pastors held an event in Texas in August that was dedicated entirely to the issue of economics, at which Blair asserted that according to the Bible, the government should have no role in creating a federal welfare system to provide for citizens in need.

“2 Thessalonians, chapter 2 said, ‘We commanded you that if any man is just lazy and refuses to work, then don’t let him eat,'” Blair said. “You know, there’s a proper place for charity, but if somebody is just a slug—as [Benjamin] Franklin said, ‘Hunger is a great motivator.'”

“Here’s God’s design,” Blair continued. “It wasn’t for a federal welfare system; the family is supposed to care for the family.
Parents raise their children and provide for them as they’re young, and then as parents get older, their kids are to honor their parents, which means to provide for their needs as they get old. Throughout Scripture, slothfulness and laziness is condemned as sin. As I said a moment ago, [the Apostle] Paul agreed to Ben Franklin or Ben Franklin agreed with Paul: If a man doesn’t work, don’t feed him.”

Of course, a system in which parents provide for their children and children then, in turn, provide for their parents only works so long as the parents and the children are physically capable of working and are earning enough to provide what is needed. Unfortunately, for a lot of families, that is simply not the reality. But according to Blair’s interpretation of the Bible, the proper remedy in those situations is apparently to simply to let those families go hungry because that is the only thing that will motivate them to overcome their “slothfulness and laziness.”

2 Thessalonians Chapter 2?

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?s ... ersion=NIV
2 Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, 2 not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us—whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter—asserting that the day of the Lord has already come. 3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness[a] is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

5 Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? 6 And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. 7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. 8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, 10 and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

13 But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. 14 He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

15 So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings[c] we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.

16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.
Nothing like lying your ass off about whats in the Bible. OR, maybe it was a Freudian slip, and the passages came out of his mouth about the coming of the Lawless One, and how the people who delight on wickedness will believe lies.

He meant 2 Thessalonians 3, but you can hardly expect someone in his position to know the Bible.

Not to mention the "pastor" is doing a masterful job of the sin of Prooftexting. Sorry pastor dude, you cannot claim the Bible says what pastor dude is claiming when it flies in the face of a host of parables in the Gospel, i.e those things that Jesus actually said. Instead of finding how Jesus's saying and Paul's words actually can work together He yanks only Paul's words (and Paul could be a bit of a jerk) to make the point the pastor dude wanted, not what God is trying to teach us.

Rarely have I felt that what we see now is matching so neatly with Scripture, but, well, there it is.

Surprise! Zero drag queens have been arrested in Tennessee this year for raping or sexually abusing children.

The same cannot be said for religious leaders.

I have to keep saying this, but how do you know? These guys could be dressed up like Dame Edna in their private life and we wouldn't have a clue. There's no evidence that they are, but there is no evidence that they are not either.

Just making flat statements like that is rather silly. SOME Transvestites will have abused kids. SOME Pastors/Priests are Transvestites. Those circles will cross into a Venn Diagram at some point.

The point is not that there are not transvestites that abuse children, but that the right makes it sound like transvestites and other LTBQ are responsible for the child abuse. That is not true. They come from all walks of life because the sickness is not about cross-dressing or sexual orientation but about power, domination, and control of others for their own pleasure.

Pointing out some Evangelical is not to say that only they do it but to point out that the right goes after one segment when they want to "protect the children" while some of them (not all) ignore the abusers in their midst.

One thing we do know is that abusers seek out places of power and control, with easy access to youth or vulnerable, and gaps in protection. By using those positions of power whether they be teachers, pastors, priests, scout leaders, or even a family friend, their "power" and, for lack of a better term "pastoral position," with the potential victim reduces changes that a victim may resist and report.
