The movie, which is Disney’s first film with an openly gay character, has a subplot about a boy having a crush on another boy, but Barbee said that was not the reason she showed the film
Disney have been releasing "the first Disney film with an openly Gay Character" for several years now. The first I heard of was in the Live Action version of Beauty and the Beast, where Gaston's flunky was Homosexual, and they have been putting "first Disney movie with gay" into the marketing of their movies ever since, knowing that the media will just play along.

This is a genocidal action. No other way to put it.

“Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a horrifying bill Wednesday that will let the state take transgender minors away from their families if they are receiving gender-affirming care.”

Fuck sake. I hate it when people throw around shocking buzzwords for clicks. No, it is NOT a genocidal action. You aren't killing anyone.

This is white apart from the fact that this whole "puberty blockers" and hormone injections and other shit horrifies the crap out of me. Asking a teenager what they are when their brain and body has not fully developed is asking for trouble. I went through dosens of different self image changes when I went through Puberty, and now that kids are getting bombarded with "tranz means you are cool" messages of course they are going to think that they are trans if they feel out of place in their own body. I didn't find my own mental shape till I was in my twenties.

Ya I have to let my feelings out on this one. What the blue born hell do you people think you are doing????

Does that mean what DeSantis is doing is right? Hell no. he is just signing bills that will get him into the papers and his ass into the Oval Oriface before those laws are struck down in the courts. But just because he is wrong does NOT mean that all this bullshit is right. You will wind up with a ton of mentally ill and wrongly developed adults Especially if you "block" puiperty" and fill up a developing brain with hormones that are not supposed to be there. And the brain keeps developing till you are 24, thats goddam science.

Hell, over here, there is a guy who was all over the media demanding that they State pay for his sex change into a woman operation. And finally the State gave in and paid for it. And what happened 9 months later. he is back on the Airwaves demanding that the State pay for his REVERSE operation as "it was a mistake!" And interviewers are now telling him to fuck off.

And this is a case of a 19 year old who had sex change operation on the British NHS and now regrets it, because his head was filled with bullshit.

https://www.dailysignal.com/2019/11/17/ ... -hack-job/
In Nathaniel’s case, he says he was bullied by the boys in elementary school because he was sensitive and preferred playing girl games. When he was a bit older, he discovered internet pornography, heard about transgenderism, and as he says, “convinced myself that’s what I was.”

When he finally worked up the nerve to tell his mother in the summer after eighth grade, she made an appointment with, in his words, “a doctor at an informed-consent clinic.”

He started seeing the doctor a week after his 15th birthday, and from how he describes the next years of his teens, I’d say going to the clinic didn’t improve his life.

“From then on,” he says, “I slowly detached from everything until I was just staying home, playing video games, and going on the internet all day. I stopped reading, drawing, riding my bicycle. I surrounded myself in an echo chamber that supported and validated my poor decisions, because the others were also, unfortunately, stuck in that pit, too.”

A month after his 18th birthday, Nathaniel had what’s euphemistically called “bottom surgery.” For a male like Nathaniel, that means refashioning the male genitalia into a pseudo-vagina. He suffered some complications that required a second surgery a few months later, and he had facial surgery to further feminize his appearance.

Nine months later, he says:

Now that I’m all healed from the surgeries, I regret them. The result of the bottom surgery looks like a Frankenstein hack job at best, and that got me thinking critically about myself. I had turned myself into a plastic-surgery facsimile of a woman, but I knew I still wasn’t one. I became (and to an extent, still feel) deeply depressed.
Again, asking a teenager what they are is not going to work, and fucking with their natural development is abuse of the highest order.

So fuck DeSantis and fuck everyone who is doing this to Kids. And especially fuck people who say that NOT doing this to kids is "Genocide."

Point being first, you have ZERO say in what a family supports their child doing. ZERO. Do you have any idea how much psychiatric work goes into this decision. It not like one day the parents walk into a pharmacy and ask for HRT and puberty blockers. This is thought out and planned over years, not days.

And you are doing the same thing a family member told me about. A "one-off" example person regretting their choice. That means nobody can have that choice because one person had regrets? I had to correct my own sister for going with that argument.

Fucks sake. Get your head out of the Catholic Church, Alter Boy. :notlistening:

Disney Pulls Plug on $1 Billion Development in Florida
A new office complex, and relocation of a division from California, would have created more than 2,000 jobs but was scuttled as the company and Gov. Ron DeSantis continue to feud.

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/18/busi ... =url-share

In March, Disney called Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida “anti-business” for his scorched-earth attempt to tighten oversight of the company’s theme park resort near Orlando. Last month, when Disney sued the governor and his allies for what it called “a targeted campaign of government retaliation,” the company made clear that $17 billion in planned investment in Walt Disney World was on the line.

“Does the state want us to invest more, employ more people, and pay more taxes, or not?” Robert A. Iger, Disney’s chief executive, said on an earnings-related conference call with analysts last week.

On Thursday, Mr. Iger and Josh D’Amaro, Disney’s theme park and consumer products chairman, showed that they were not bluffing, pulling the plug on a nearly $1 billion office complex that was scheduled for construction in Orlando. It would have brought more than 2,000 jobs to the region, with $120,000 as the average salary, according to an estimate from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. :snippity:

Well, it would be fun for you because you don't live in Florida. Slim, Neon, p0rtia (part time), Orly, myself, and some others may not be able to laugh as much on a daily basis as the non-Florida residents.

I can see why you think it would be funny, though.

Ron DeSantis is determined to recruit Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders as his running mate before making a formal announcement on his 2024 presidential bid, sources close to his campaign told RadarOnline.com exclusively.

Insiders claim that DeSantis has set his sights on the former Trump press secretary to be his VP pick after she won the race to become the state's first female governor in November, succeeding Gov. Asa Hutchinson who served in the role since 2015.

Disney has announced it will scrap plans to build a new campus in central Florida and relocate 2,000 employees from Southern California to work in digital technology, finance and product development.

Key points:
Disney had planned to build the campus about 30 kilometres from the giant Disney World theme park resort
A former chairman of Florida's Republican Party called Disney's decision a huge loss
Disney drew criticism from Ron DeSantis after publicly opposing a law banning lessons on sexual orientation and gender identity in early grades
The decision follows a year of attacks from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and the legislature, with Disney filing a First Amendment lawsuit against him and other officials last month.

Disney had planned to build the campus about 30 kilometres from the giant Disney World theme park resort, but Josh D'Amaro, chairman of the parks, experiences and products division, said in a memo to employees that "new leadership and changing business conditions" prompted the company to abandon those plans.

"I remain optimistic about the direction of our Walt Disney World business," Mr D'Amaro said.

"We have plans to invest $US17 billion ($25 billion) and create 13,000 jobs over the next ten years. I hope we're able to do so."

Disney and Mr DeSantis have been engaged in a tug-of-war for more than a year that has engulfed the Republican governor in criticism as he prepares to launch an expected presidential bid in the coming weeks.

Florida Senator Joe Gruters, a former chairman of the state Republican Party, called Disney's decision a huge loss.

"I hope we can put this conflict behind us and get back to a more normal working relationship with a company that's been one of our best business and tourism partners that we've had over the last 50 years," Mr Gruters said.

"Two thousand jobs and a billion dollars worth of investments into our state, I would say that's a serious blow.

"The market is much better than dealing with companies rather than heavy-handed government."

Judge in Disney-DeSantis Dispute Known for Torching GOP Policies

Chris Marr Staff Correspondent
May 18, 2023, 11:30 AM

The Florida federal judge handling Walt Disney Co.’s lawsuit against Ron DeSantis has ruled against the Republican governor in previous high-profile cases, including last year blocking the governor’s “anti-woke” restrictions on workplace diversity training and university instruction.

Mark E. Walker has called laws championed by Republicans racist and dystopian and drawn public rebukes from DeSantis who accused him of “performative partisanship.”

Being in the center of partisan culture wars is an unexpected turn for Walker, a life-long Floridian and President Barack Obama nominee, confirmed unanimously by the Senate in 2012.

“I am surprised by the criticism that has been put his way,” said retired state Judge Charles Dodson, who served alongside Walker in Florida’s Second Judicial Circuit in Tallahassee before Walker’s federal appointment. “I’m not surprised that Mark is not afraid to make a ruling following the law that may be interpreted by some people as being a bold ruling and controversial.”

Walker has served since 2018 as chief judge in the US District Court for the Northern District of Florida. The court hears a large portion of the constitutional challenges brought against newly enacted state laws and other cases involving DeSantis, given its location in the state capital.

Disney asks judge to dismiss DeSantis-appointed board’s lawsuit

Author: Mike Schneider / AP
Published: May 17, 2023 Updated: May 17, 2023

Disney on Tuesday asked a state judge to dismiss a lawsuit filed by a governing board appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to oversee Walt Disney World, claiming the company has been the victim of the “weaponizing” powers of government aimed at punishing it for opposing a law dubbed “Don’t Say Gay” by critics.

Disney’s motion to dismiss filed in state court in Orlando was the latest twist in legal battles being played out in federal and state courts among the entertainment giant, DeSantis and the DeSantis-appointed Central Florida Tourism Oversight District. The fight is over who controls the special governing district which decides what gets built at Disney World and runs the municipal-like services on the 25,000 acres that make up the theme park resort.

“Just over a year ago, Disney expressed a political view that Governor DeSantis did not like. In response, the Governor unleashed a campaign of retaliation, weaponizing the power of government to punish Disney for its protected speech,” Disney said in the motion.

The lawsuit Disney is seeking to dismiss was filed by the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District earlier this month in Orange County, Florida. It seeks to void agreements Disney made with previous board members made up of Disney supporters before the new DeSantis-appointed board members held their first meeting.

Federal judge is urged to clear the way for DeSantis' migrant flights case

WGCU | By Jim Saunders/News Service of Florida
Published May 15, 2023 at 4:45 PM EDT

Plaintiffs last week fired back after Gov. Ron DeSantis’ administration argued that a federal judge should dismiss a potential class-action lawsuit filed after Florida flew 49 migrants from Texas to Massachusetts in September.

Attorneys for three migrants from Venezuela and the non-profit group Alianza Americas filed a 106-page document in federal court in Massachusetts disputing a series of arguments raised by the DeSantis administration in a Feb. 28 motion to dismiss the case.

The plaintiffs’ attorneys described the flights as a “shocking abuse of power” designed to boost DeSantis’ political profile in advance of a potential run for the White House in 2024.

“This is a case about defendants’ unlawful, tortious and inhumane manipulation of a group of 49 immigrants newly arrived to the United States, many of whom did not or barely spoke English, in order to further defendants’ agenda and political aspirations,” a legal memorandum, filed Thursday, said. “Despite defendants’ attempt to characterize this case as one about national immigration policy, it is not. Rather, at its heart, this case is about whether the laws of the United States and of Massachusetts permit state officials and their cronies to lure innocent people onto a plane with false promises of jobs, housing, and support, and dump them in an unknown place where they were not expected.”

The lawsuit, filed in September and revised in November, alleges that the flights violated federal and Massachusetts laws, including violating migrants’ due-process and equal-protection rights. Defendants include DeSantis, other DeSantis administration officials, the Florida Department of Transportation, contractor Vertol Systems Company, Inc. and alleged organizer Perla Huerta.
