Really? That implies that OAN, Fox News and NewsMax are running over with ethical reporters. I think the message is sent clearly enough to overcome the amount of possible integrity we're dealing with.

A journalist from Axios was let go last week because DeSantis was unhappy with him.

Legislation for a non-existing problem
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Introduces State Legislation Banning CBDCs

André Beganski
Mon, March 20, 2023 at 9:30 PM GMT+1

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis proposed legislation on Monday that would ban central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) from the Sunshine State, portraying it as a measure to safeguard Floridians’ financial privacy.

The legislation would prohibit in Florida any CBDC that the U.S. Federal Reserve could introduce and any created by a foreign government, outlawing the technology entirely from being used as a form of money within the state.

DeSantis introduced the legislation from behind a podium with the phrase “Big Brother’s Digital Dollar” plastered across it. He skewered the technology as a vehicle that could lead to government overreach and pave the way for financial surveillance.

“What [a] central bank digital currency is all about is surveilling Americans and controlling Americans,” he said. “You're opening up a major can of worms, and you're handing a central bank huge, huge amounts of power, and they will use that power.”

In interviews with Decrypt, ShapeShift founder Erik Voorhees has also called CBDCs “Orwellian,” and whistleblower Edward Snowden has called them “cryptofascist currencies.”

CBDCs are similar to stablecoins in that they are pegged to the price of a sovereign currency like the U.S. dollar. But CBDCs are issued and maintained by a nation state or central bank instead of minted by private companies on decentralized networks like Tether’s USDT or Circle’s USDC, the two largest stablecoins by market cap.

Why stop there, Ron, why not pass a law that forbids anyone in Florida to have any transactions with the federal Reserve at all, including those pesky Federal Reserve Notes.

Add VA now to his already planned stops in NH, OH, MI. Unlike past Governors, he won’t release his travel schedule so he can try and hide what he is up to from the people of FL while he circumvents the law with his shadow campaign. So we have to find out from his hosts like this.
Who is paying for all this travel?

Wait, I thought big, bad, fake tough guy Ron Desantis already taught Disney a lesson and kept them from doing this stuff?

I don't really give a shit if he eats pudding with his bare hands or not. But denying it like that is going to turn it into a death spiral of looking like a stupid liar. If he said "Ya I did. Been going that since I was a Child. And?" it would be blown over in hours and never mentioned again.

This "I didn't eat pudding with my hand wearing a Tutu" bullshit is so frigging obvious it will bury him.

I'm told that when I was some really young age, my aunt asked my mother if she should give me a spoon for the pudding. My mother said he eats with a spoon now so you can give him one. I promptly ate the pudding with both hands.

It must have been really good pudding.

But it is good to see that DeSantis is working hard on the things that really matter to Florida homeowners!

Our homeowner's insurance is going from $6k/yr to $10k/yr.

This must be why, as DeSantis says, people are moving to Florida? /ffs

I'll try later to find the article but I read something a while back that people are moving to Florida...for a while. Then they realize how expensive it is and they move back home.

Florida Principal Out After Viewing Of Michelangelo's 'David' Upsets Parents

Sara Boboltz
Thu, March 23, 2023 at 5:24 PM GMT+1

The principal of Florida’s Tallahassee Classical School is out of a job after parents complained that their sixth-grade children were shown Michelangelo’s 16th century “David” sculpture, with one parent calling it “pornographic,” the Tallahassee Democrat first reported.

The now-former principal, Hope Carrasquilla, told HuffPost the situation was also “a little more complicated than that,” noting that the usual protocol is to send parents a letter before students are shown such classical artwork.

Due to “a series of miscommunications,” the letter did not go out to the sixth-grade parents, and some complained, Carrasquilla said.

One parent was “point-blank upset,” Carrasquilla continued, and “felt her child should not be viewing those pieces.”

Ron DeSantis forced into U-turn after calling Ukraine war ‘territorial dispute’
Likely Republican contender for White House says remark was ‘mischaracterised’ but calls Vladimir Putin a war criminal

Martin Pengelly in New York
Thu 23 Mar 2023 13.05 GMT

Ron DeSantis has reversed his position on Ukraine, after facing widespread criticism for calling the Russian invasion a “territorial dispute”.

Speaking to Fox Nation in an interview to be broadcast in full on Thursday, the Florida governor and probable contender for the Republican presidential nomination said his “territorial dispute” remark had been “mischaracterised”.

“Obviously, Russia invaded – that was wrong,” he said. “They invaded Crimea and took that in 2014 – that was wrong.”

DeSantis also called Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, a “war criminal”.

The international criminal court has issued a warrant for Putin’s arrest. Though the US is not a member of the ICC, Joe Biden said the move was justified.

DeSantis said: “I don’t know about that route, but I do think that he should be held accountable.”

The Florida governor has not declared a run for the presidency but he is the only close challenger to Donald Trump in polling and is widely expected to enter the race this spring.

He made his “territorial dispute” remark last week, in answer to the Fox News host Tucker Carlson. The remark aligned DeSantis with Trump but also prompted fierce criticism across the political spectrum.

On Wednesday, Reed Galen, a Republican strategist turned anti-Trump campaigner, said: “DeSantis is a conventional politician. They’re polling like mad and found his Ukraine position is unpopular with general election Republicans. Also, donors hate it.”

DeSantis has also been criticised for favouring media outlets owned by Rupert Murdoch. Fox Nation and the New York Post, which excerpted the interview, are Murdoch properties.

Regarding his “territorial dispute” remark, DeSantis said: “What I’m referring to is where the fighting is going on now, which is that eastern border region [of the] Donbas, and then Crimea, and you have a situation where Russia has had that. I don’t think legitimately, but they had. There’s a lot of ethnic Russians there.

“So that’s some difficult fighting, and that’s what I was referring to. And so it wasn’t that I thought Russia had a right to that, and so if I should have made that more clear, I could have done it. But I think the larger point is, OK, Russia is not showing the ability to take over Ukraine, to topple the government or certainly to threaten Nato. That’s a good thing.

WASHINGTON — Ron DeSantis may be missing his moment.

A number of the Florida governor’s donors and allies are worried his recent stumbles suggest he may not be ready for a brutal fight against Donald Trump. Some feel DeSantis needs to accelerate his timeline to run for the GOP presidential nomination and begin directly confronting Trump if he's to have any chance of thwarting the former president’s momentum. Others believe DeSantis should sidestep Trump altogether and wait until 2028 to run.

At a Sunday luncheon following the annual Red Cross ball in Palm Beach, Florida, a group of 16 prominent Republicans, described by one attendee as a mix of DeSantis backers and Trump "skeptics," discussed misgivings about the governor's standing for the future if he tussles with the former president.

“They liked him — many of them might even support him,” the person who was at the event said of DeSantis. “But they thought on balance that his long-term future was better without him trying to take Trump head on.”

“Would you be willing to serve as vice president with Donald Trump?” Bolling asked.

After pausing for a moment, DeSantis said: “I think I’m probably, you know, more of an executive guy.”

“I mean, I think that you want to be able to do things. That’s part of the reason I got in, I got into this job is because we have action. We’re able to make things happen. And I think that’s probably what I’m best suited for,” DeSantis noted further.
