The Ayyadurai groupies are very birther-esque (and hilarious): more than one has said SCOTUS could rule the natural-born-citizen clause was abrogated.

"Could" and "will" being very different concepts.

Like all thin-skinned grifters, Ayyadurai blocked some jerk* for noting he's ineligible (and just recycling a magic-bullet theory about eligibility).

I'm having a hard time deciding if it's incredibly dumb or genius.... I mean it's obviously a transparent grift and currently very right wing targeted BUT it allows him to pivot to a left wing grift by claiming it was part of an elaborate protest to get traction on an amendment that would allow naturalized citizens to run for president. There are quite a few lefties I know who feel very strongly that "if you live here you deserve representation" and push for things like voting rights for resident non citizens. Allowing naturalized citizens eligibility would be in line with that. What's the verdict? So dumb it's brilliant? Or just dumb? (Insert glass onion meme here)

Ayyadurai's actual message, if there is one, is fairly hardcore anti-vax. His group is ironically titled, "Truth Freedom Health," yet actually stands for none of those things.

And several of his supporters say things like, "We've already had one foreigner for president. "

So only easily duped lefties are going to carry a banner for Ayyadurai.

I haven't read the complaint, but Ayyadurai's summary highlights many problems.

But at least he filed something. Assuming there's a ruling on merits (which is by no means certain, given the possible defects), it'll end the grift sooner than later.

Nothing on the docket yet. I assume if he does file a suit, it will die rather quick. I doubt the true reason is that lawyers can't be trusted but he could not find one to take it. They all know that the suit is dead, dead, and dead. I do not believe the scouts can force AGOTUS to create an advisory opinion, and the courts will definitely not create one.

Among the problems is Ayyadurai is suing AGOTUS to issue a directive to the states to compel them to place him on the ballot.

AGOTUS doesn't manage state elections, so the feds may (assuming this lawsuit actually gets filed) respond with a motion to dismiss, saying Ayyadurai is seeking relief that can't be granted. Which would avoid the merits.

SCOTUS basically pulled a shell trick with standing in that case; there's very little discussion about standing. Meaning there's little for future litigants to argue for a wider reading of standing. A rehearing petition is possible in that case, and some have urged for it on this basis, but I'm doubting Colorado will.

Too also: a naturalized citizen recently sued the feds, seeking the right to run for presidency. The district court, likely in excess of jurisdiction, ruled on the merits.

The more standard line in election cases is to say putative candidates lack standing absent a major commitment of resources. The courts don't want to encourage any idiot who prints a few bumper stickers to waste the courts' time. (And other candidates' time as well.)

It looks as if Ayyadurai filed his lawsuit: D.D.C. Case No. 23-02079.

It hasn't shown up on CourtListener.

The government hasn't been served.

Summons was not issued. Don't know why.

The court refused his request for electronic access because he cannot be bothered to read and follow the local rules about how to request access and what he has to do first. He just said, "please give me."

DDC issued an order in Ayyadurai's case:

I presume this is a boilerplate order for cases with unrepresented parties, and not directed at Ayyadurai specifically.

Ayyadurai caught the (ob. "Obama nominated") judge who'll be presiding over the latest indictment.

And because Ayyadurai was representing himself, the court pre-screened the case ... and dismissed it.
