We lived just east of Houston for over 30 years. Most of that time summer high temperatures were in the mid90s. Now triple digit temperatures are common.

Alright, who had the proliferation of "brain-eating amoeba" on their climate change bingo card?

That is crazy high for that part of the world, but it was that high earlier this week in these here parts and I was out throwing the ball with Dawg and my brain didn't melt so I dunno about all that. But then I was only out for an hour or so before retreating to my air conditioned paradise, which I would expect many denizens of Portugal lack.

P.S. In the meantime, the RWNJ media is bloviating this week about how temperatures aren't really increasing, it's just the colors used on the maps that have changed.

For reference, Portugal lies at the same latitude as Kentucky and Ohio.

I get what Garrett is saying and have at least a tenuous grasp on the consequences, but come on. "As uncomfortable as the #EuropeHeatWave is..." Really? Over two thousand have died in Spain and Portugal alone. I'd say it's a far bit past "uncomfortable." I suppose far more are going to end up dying from climate change though.
Edit: Also, along those lines...

Houses in Europe are mostly designed to hold in the heat, particularly in England. That's a big difference.

It's quite a strange feeling to now see only rocks and gravel where in childhood the ice was a thick mass.
