Well, now, son, you bring up an interesting point. Could it be that conservative Republicans, having suddenly realized there’s very little downside to breaking the law and very little up$ide to playing by old rules, make up the majority of white collar law breakers now? I didn’t see any Democrats take a dump on the sacred marble or break windows or batter the thin blue line with pipes and shields or whatever they could grab inside the Capital on Jan 6, did you? Or steal voting machines? Or vote more than once for their cheap Jeebus? Betchya dollars to donuts the vast majority of COVID relief fraudsters were of the elephant persuasion, too.

Q-anon and other conspiracy groups are not unique to the elephant party.
IMO, it is that propagating conspiracy nonsense gets social media influencers much desired Follows, Likes, Shares, etc.. So, spreading such nonsense appeals to those who have a psychological need/desire to be ever bigger influencers.
It may be that an effective approach to counter the propagation of nonsense is to create a similar culture in which, when one adopts the “reasoned” compassionate approach, they are instantly incorporated into a social network that brings Follows, Likes, Shares and has a built in merchandising base of shirts, hoodies, mugs, bumper stickers, coozies, flags, etc.
In a manner of speaking, use that part of human nature as an engine for societal good.

Brooklyn man identified as Capitol rioter who reportedly received phone call from White House on Jan. 6

NEW YORK — A Brooklyn man who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6 has been identified as the recipient of a mysterious nine-second phone call from the White House placed during the riot.
Anton Lunyk, 26, of Midwood, Brooklyn, admitted joining the attack with two buddies and is the owner of the phone to which someone at the White House briefly called during the riot, CNN reported Monday.
The mystery call was revealed by former Jan. 6 committee staffer and ex-Rep. Denver Riggleman, R-Va., in an interview on CBS News’ “60 Minutes“ on Sunday.
Riggleman, who is promoting his new book about the committee’s work, framed the call as a smoking gun that Trump or someone on his team was cheering on the attack in real time.
“That’s a big, pretty big ‘aha’ moment,” Riggleman, a Trump critic, told "60 Minutes" correspondent Bill Whitaker.
“Was it an accidental call?” Riggleman mused. “When the White House just happened to (call) a rioter that day, on January 6th? Probably not.”
But investigators and members of the Jan. 6 committee reportedly downplayed that claim, noting that Lunyk says he doesn’t know anything about the call and doesn’t know Trump or anyone on his staff.
The call was placed shortly after Trump tweeted a call for his supporters to “leave peacefully.”
Federal prosecutors allege that Lunyk came to Washington, D.C., "for the chaos” with his friends, Francis Connor and Antonio Ferrigno.
The three exchanged violent messages about former Vice President Mike Pence, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., CNN reported.

HAPPENING NOW: MPD Officers Moore and Fanone are addressing Judge Amy Berman Jackson as she prepares to sentence Jan. 6 defendant Kyle Young, who participated in some of the most brutal violence that day at the Capitols' Lower West Terrace Tunnel.
Re: Assault on the Capitol (DC)
New: A Jan. 6 supporter just called Mike Fanone a “piece of shit” inside the courtroom. It came after Fanone told defendant Kyle Young, during his victim statement, that he hoped Young suffers in prison.
There was a brief stare down, and the man has now been escorted from court.

SENTENCE: ABJ sentences Kyle Young to 86 months in jail, matching the government's recommendation, plus 36 months of supervised release.
Re: Assault on the Capitol (DC)
That's the longest yet, is it not?
Assuming he'll get to keep the 5 days off for good behavior which he'd be entitled to if he can keep out of trouble, he'll nominally do 71 months, but it will actually be a little more than that based on the vagaries of how the BOP calculates time off. I've tried to make sense of their calculus, and I just can't.
All his time in pretrial detention counts, so the sentence began to run on the day he was arrested.

After being pulled from the line of officers, Fanone was then beaten by rioters during one of the most brutal assaults on police protecting the Capitol that day. He was tased in the neck and eventually lost consciousness during the attack, where he had begged rioters for his life and told them he had children.
Young, Jackson said, was the individual who handed another rioter the stun gun used to electrocute Fanone. Young then showed the individual how to operate the device.
“You had to teach him how to turn it on,” Jackson said, “you armed someone.”
The individual, Daniel Rodriguez, is charged with electrocuting Fanone several times in his neck and has pleaded not guilty.
“I hope someday you’ll forgive me,” Young, who brought his 16-year-old son with him to the Capitol, said to Fanone during the sentencing hearing. “I know you hate me.”

Sounds like a tourist engaging in legitimate political discourse.NEW: Here’s a phone call Mike Fanone got tonight after his assailant Kyle Young was sentenced to more than seven years in federal prison in his Jan. 6 case.

I'm not sure I want to read it (I have a lot to read), but I pre-ordered Fanone's book to support his royalties while the more violent insurrectionists contemplate prison life.

Robert Packer, the Virginia man who wore a "Camp Auschwitz" sweatshirt during the Capitol riot, has filed notice he plans to appeal his 75-day sentence.
His CJA attorney Stephen Brennwald won't be representing him in that, though, so unclear if he'll attempt it pro se.

Sentencing in Jan 6 case of Cara Hentschel of Missouri. Feds argue she has history of felony convictions & "lack of remorse" after riot
They also argue Hentschel claimed police "murdered" Ashli Babbitt
(Her CO-DEFENDANT is sentenced at 2pm)
